In March 2011, the World Health Organisation Regional Office for Europe published its findings on the burden of disease from environmental noise. This stated that almost 1 million life years are lost each year in Europe due to noise from road traffic alone.

Worldmapper is a collection of world maps, where territories are re-sized on each map according to the subject of interest. There are now nearly 700 maps.
