Christmas. Loom. Birchbark. R Teacher and the Soggy Craft Kids: Rose Windows with Kindergart. I show the Kindergarten classes a Power Point about all the different aspects of Cathedrals (arches, rose windows, stained glass, flying buttresses.)
Then, they trace around a circle template on a piece of paper and fill the circle with decoupaged tissue paper. This is a great way to talk about great art and reinforce brush techniques without the mess of paint. I fill up a jar with laundry starch and tell them to "dip the tip" of the brush in it and put one dot of starch on the paper. Then they put a small square of tissue paper over the dot and paint starch over top of the tissue paper.
