Here’s a new fun font I just finished – Embossed Label and Text based on my previous post with the images. Those ones had only basic alphabet and numbers so I also made some extra characters. More stuff to spell :). When working on the Old Typewriter Font , I was left with some letter outlines that I thought would also make a cool font – so after a few adjustments, here’s a sort of splattered typewriter outlines font. I don’t think I ever spent so much time on a post image as this one. :) I just had to make use of the 16mm film countdown leader.Graphic Leftovers Blog

Graphics Atlas: Welcome
Graphics Atlas is a new online resource that brings sophisticated print identification and characteristic exploration tools to archivists, curators, historians, collectors, conservators, educators, and the general public. Start Now → Let IPI guide you through individual prints in a virtual study collection that contains processes ranging from the woodcut to the modern digital print. Start Now →My name is Jamie Wieck and I decided to write #The50 Things Every Creative Should Know ( #the50 ) when I realised I was not the first, nor the last student to fear the leap between art college and the creative industry. Inspired by my own, and my friend’s (sometimes rocky) experiences within the creative industry, #the50 addresses the most common concerns held by graduating creatives and aims to bridge the gap between art college and the professional world.

Putting together a great color palette for your design work can be one of the most challenging aspects of any project. And many times, color palettes are built from some source of inspiration. So why not be inspired by some of history’s greatest master artists? Colour Lovers has a lot of great tools including the ability to create color palettes auto-magically from pics you find around the web. It’s a great way to find inspiration when building your palette. Of course, computer algorithms are not perfect; they miss key accent colors frequently and make questionable decisions on extracting the dominant tones.

There are two kinds of computer graphics - raster (composed of pixels) and vector (composed of paths). Raster images are more commonly called bitmap images. A bitmap image uses a grid of individual pixels where each pixel can be a different color or shade. Bitmaps are composed of pixels.

I have been on sabbatical from this blog because I am trying to track down a problem. I have an image that I want to take a portion of (an interior, randomly shaped clip mask) and fit that clipping to another shape, and I need to automate it. I am trying to take a portion of an image from Photoshop and bring it to fit a UV map in LW. I am able to get an alpha cutout of the image easily, making the UV map in Lightwave is simple as you can get, the UV map comes into Photoshop or Illustrator (or any other program) simply enough, and it is simple to produce an alpha mask of it. The crux is that there is no relation between the shape of the image alpha map and the UV map, and neither one is consistently shaped from object to object or image to image. The LW objects to be mapped are all one 1/2 of a 2-sided shell (that is, topologically similar to a half sphere).

Raster Images versus Vector Images
Raster Images versus Vector Images All electronic art images are divided into one of two core types, raster images (also know as 'bitmaps') and vector images. In a nutshell raster images are composed of connected dots and vectors are images composed of connected lines. By Jay Busselle, Director of Business Development, Digital Art Solutions These two formats are quite different from one another, yet they contrast and complement one another when used appropriately for the desired final output method. Raster images are created through the process of scanning source artwork or "painting" with a photo editing or paint program such as Corel PhotoPAINT or Adobe PhotoShop.Graphic Design (Raster)
