Autumn leaf bouquet. I don’t know what it’s like in your neighborhood, but when I step outside here in Oakland, I sense it right away: Fall is in the air! I’m lucky enough to have a few turning trees on my street, so I don’t miss out entirely on the brilliant autumn colors I remember from growing up in NH.

Speaking of brilliant autumn colors, I’m thrilled to share this stunning maple leaf rose bouquet DIY from a fellow Kate — clay, fiber and paper artist Kate Hust. Kate first learned how to make these a few years ago from a retired art teacher in her community, and now they’ve become an annual tradition when fall rolls around. Her instructor taught her to wrap the leaves really tight, so they looked like rose buds, but Kate has modified the technique a bit to suit her own tastes: She likes to find the really big leaves and make them with large open “petals.”

She’s clearly perfected the craft, and I’m so happy that she’s decided to pass the tradition on to us. Thanks for sharing, Kate! Materials Instructions. Preserving leaves and a leaf lantern | 5 Orange Potatoes. Today we made lasagna (with homemade tomato sauce), roasted pumpkin seeds and preserved some of the gorgeous Autumn leaves that came down with the wind this week. We like to preserve them in a couple different ways. We waxed some, pressed some, and coated some leaves in Mod Podge . Then created with some to make the perfect November glow! This was so simple. ****Preserving leaves and a leaf lantern – First cover a side of a glass jar with Mod Podge, then place a pressed leaf (pressed for at least 36 hours) on the Mod Podge, then cover the leaf with Mod Podge. Happy November!

Valentines. Handmade Front Door Deco mesh Halloween Fall by lalamoesbows. MADE: TUTORIAL: Fall Felt Leaves. With summer gone and cooler weather rolling in, my mind fills with visions of skinny jeans and boots, long-sleeve knit tops, cozy cardigans, and lots of layers. I smell ginger and nutmeg and wood burning stoves. It’s still warm enough for an afternoon at the park but cold enough that jackets and hoodies are filling our coat-rack by the front door. But above all, Autumn means a splendor of color-changing leaves, crunching under each step.

Oh, those pretty jeweled tones. Though most of you live in areas where the leaves turn from summer green to yellow and orange, here in Austin there’s not a whole lotta Autumn to report. All the Autumn leaves I could ever want! And when you hang them up, it really looks like leaves are falling right inside your living room! Whatever your leafy purpose, this project is easy and can be as simple or involved as you like. Okay, let’s get started. BUYING FELT Felt comes in roughly three categories: So, grab some felt. Trace and cut out them out. Tie a knot. How to: wax paper and crayon fall leaves. So this last week i decided to quit ignoring the elephant in the room, and acknowledge that fall is... well basically at my door step. the leaves are starting to show a hint of change and with that change came my "NO! NOT YET! " these leaves were made just like you used to make those stain glass windows with wax paper and crayon shavings. you can hang them, you can place them prettily to dress up any surface, and well you can just place them on your windows as well.WHAT YOU WILL NEED: *wax paper.

*fall colored crayons that have seen better days *leaf template (right click hit save as and then print off. make sure you make them fit your picture screen so it doesn't cut off any of the leaf. i made mine as a 4 by 7 picture) when you have your two colors shaved on, place the second piece of wax paper on top making a sandwich. slowly melt your crayon shavings. and push the "liquid crayon" around so it's thin and covers a larger area.

Cut out your leaves. ahh the life of a crafting mom. enjoy!
