» Oscar Nicholson: The Evolution of Story telling - A Digital Perspective
There are people in the industry who have the ability to change your entire perception of concepts or crystallise a notion that you’ve always felt but never been able to articulate. And Oscar Nicholson (or @returnon on Twitter) is just one of those people. And once again, he’s done it again – here’s Oscar’s take on story telling. Like me – he’s a self-confessed slashie: he’s a video slash director slash story slash a bunch of other things. He’s someone you’d love to have in every idea session – he is a big picture thinker because he understand the intricate details to the Nth degree. So I can’t really sum him up at all!UX Magazine | User experience is everything.™

Consider us incepted. Ever since Christopher Nolan’s blockbuster hit theaters in July, we’ve been trying to suss out dream from reality. Now that we can bring the movie home, we can put our freeze-frame thumb to use. (Haven’t seen the movie? Stop reading. This is one big spoiler.)

[[UPDATE: After the remarkable traffic and response this has generated, I have written a follow-up that better explains some of the motivations behind this post. Please read it after you read this.]] This is a glorious time for folks who work on designing for user experience. In the past couple of months, I’ve spoken at or attended conferences dedicated to mobile, converged digital media, and “the next web,” and again and again you hear from executives the importance of great user experiences. In many ways, this is validating—at Adaptive Path we’ve been dedicated to demonstrating the value and importance of user experience for nearly 10 years. (Personally, I’ve been speaking and writing about it for nearly 15.)The Anatomy of a Movement - David Armano - The Conversation - Harvard Business Review

Given last week's election results, it's a good time to think about movements.Social influence happens on the web all the time, and you can improve your webpage if you know how it works. Maybe it is best explained by a real world example: Imagine you are on a night out with your friends and the whole group is about to leave one club and go to another. You had a long day and feel tired, and to be honest, you would rather go home and get some sleep. Your friends, however, tell you to get yourself together and come along.
