By Avatar JayR Cela Quite frankly, I don't really know for sure, but I can make several educated guess's. # 1 Oracle ( formerly Sun Micro ) just announced the newest version of the popular Open Source MySql Database platform to version 5.5.10, ( SL runs MySql Enterprise.) . Inherently increasing I/O query thread status from 32 to 256 per execution cycle. ( this should produce a huge + in inventory load times ) ( Sadly it's not working out that way ) # 2 SL is a Debian Based Linux back end platform. This has also been recently upgraded as well. See Here . All of the SL Back End Servers are Debian based Linux. Consider those that are actually using the SL Platform for RL money making venture's.
It's bad enough SL, the platform is still reeling from the previous and disastrous reign of the nefarious M. But now this constant barrage of server updates too ? JayR Cela :( Territoire Digital. Virtual World Watch (VWW) was a project and service which operated from 2007 to 2012, by myself with support from the Eduserv Foundation.
The main purpose of VWW was to find academics in the UK who were using virtual worlds, and to find out if, how and why their use of such technology worked or failed. Many UK academics provided data (informal and formal) over the five year arc of the project. For the first few years VWW was funded – either as a growing compilation of reports, or as a more holistic information service – by the Eduserv Foundation. After formal funding concluded, the service produced a few more reports (making 13 in total) plus a few other publications. I also presented at academic events and various online events (example), and contributed to media articles (example). Snapshot reports These were ten survey-based reports, to gain some kind of ‘snapshot’ of virtual world use in UK Higher and Further Education for that time. Other reports Presentations Publications Podcasts. Second Life: New World Notes. Medicine in Second Life: virtual doctors, hospitals, and of course, sperm donation. This is the second post about Second Life, the virtual world where medicine has a special place. In the first post, I wanted to describe what kind of educational possibilities Second Life has on the field of genetics. Now I wanted to know more about how medical information and health itself are organized in this artificial world.
There are just a few hospitals, most of them are totally empty as there are just some places where you can get injured. And if you die, then you register again and get a new resident. This hospital is the base of Dr. What do you think? But here is an extremely positive example: Ann Myers Medical Center. It’s a real dream medical center with plenty of rooms and equipments. The main goal is not to teach medical students how to become a surgeon, but to help them learn how to organize patients even in a complicated situation. What I loved the most was the opportunity to hold meetings. And yes of course, even if it’s a virtual world, it’s made by humans: digg Like this: Stories from Second Life: News & Videos about Stories from Second Life.
