Competitions and Architecture. 2011 HD Award Winners Announced. Honoring the achievements of superior design and architecture around the globe, Hospitality Design (HD) magazine announces the finalists and winners of the seventh annual Hospitality Design Awards (HD Awards). This year, the awards program received over 310 entries in 17 categories spanning from Luxury/Upscale Hotel to Green/Sustainable Project. On June 8th, HD recognized those winning architecture firms, interior design firms, and owners at the Hudson Theatre at the Millennium Broadway Hotel in New York.

Projects are also featured in the May/June issue of HD. The HD Awards were judged by a noteworthy group of industry professionals: Chris Sheffield, SLDesign; Michelle Agnese, Riscala Agnese Design Group; Lisa Simeone, Simeone Deary Design Group; Philip Koether, Philip Koether Architects; and Wid Chapman, Wid Chapman Architects. The full list of winners and finalists in 2011 HD Awards include the following honorees: Best Bathroom Judges Special Award Student Project Luxury Public Space Resort.

Design and Related Awards | Design Institute of Australia. Recognition for Designers Design awards offer an opportunity for designers to gain public and peer recognition for their skills. The more prominent awards also assist designers in the marketing of their services. The DIA is pleased to support professional award programs by recognised design organisations. In practice the divisions are not rigid. Winners for 2011 Commercial Interior Design Awards announced. Members of the region’s interior design industry converged at the Jumeirah Zabeel Saray on October 24, for the fifth annual Commercial Interior Design (CID) Awards. There were 15 award categories in total, covering the whole spectrum of commercial interiors, from hospitality and retail, to public sector and institutional. New this year was the American Hardwood Export Council’s Outstanding Use of American Hardwood in the Middle East award and the Lifetime Achievement Award, which recognised the contribution of an interior design professional to the industry.

GAJ picked up two of the award’s most prestigious categories, winning Middle East Design Firm of the Year and Elie Choucair winning Interior Designer of the Year, Middle East. A newcomer to the interior design community, Firoz Sainudeen from Al Mohanad Interiors, won Young Interior Designer of the Year, Middle East, after being nominated for the same category last year.

In this, our 9th annual Interior Design Awards, a dreamy private island retreat and a chic new office bathed in natural light with envious views earned the top residential and commercial awards respectively. Celebrating the best in local interior design is what these awards are all about, and we are proud to once again showcase beautiful, functional and creative projects from our 2012 award winners. This year the top residential prize goes to CTX for a stunning family vacation/rental home on a private island in St. David’s, while the commercial win goes to CIG for Aspen’s new offices in One Four One Front Street. Honourable mentions also go to Linberg & Simmons for their stylish new restaurant Taste One Four One, Botelho Wood for the small but impactful Concordia Maritime office and Westport Architecture for their contemporary renovation of Bacardi on the Rocks.
