Number 19. A while ago I saw a picture of a Christmas ornament, that was turned into a vase.

Number 19

I really liked the idea of this kind of Christmas deco, but wondered how I could make the ornament stay in place, when it was filled with water. So I made this crochet circle, that has a round of double crochets at the bottom, so the vase will not tilt. The crochet circle is then starched. This gives enough strength and stability for the bottom double crochet row, so it can carry the vase. See below the free crochet pattern for the super easy vaseholder: Materials 1 skein Marks & Kattens, Bianca in red. 100% mercerised cotton 160m/50g 175 yards/1,76 ounces. 1 skein metallic thread yarn. Manzanita Advent Tree

They were on my mind this year because it is one tradition I’ve been saving until I had children of my own that were old enough to get it. Sort of like how I’ve never read the Harry Potter series because I’m saving them for when my children are older. You know, so we can experience those novels together. I beg you, please don’t tell anyone I have yet to pick up a Potter. It’s shocking, but it’s true. Now that my munchkins are three and five, and know the full meaning of the words “treat” and “candy”, it seemed the right time to create an Advent calendar. Lilfishstudios. Turn your sweater inside-out, grab a pair of sharp scissors and let's get started! There are good seams and bad seams. This is an example of a good seam. It looks like two tiny braids side-by-side. You can cut between those two braids of a good seam and unravel a super-long strand of yarn that you can wind into a huge skein. Newbie unravelers will want to cut the thread one bit at a time, which is fine. I've cut the seam from the bottom of the sweater to the end of the sleeve. At the top of the sleeve are little loops!
