5 Secrets to Crisp, Flavorful Golden Waffles

I did. And I almost can’t believe I did. They’re quite a far cry from the crisp, thick, flavorful waffles I now make every Saturday for brunch. Even though my waffle standards started out with the soggy, spongy frozen variety, I’ve gotten very demanding about how a waffle should be, and you should be too. I’ll make any excuse to have ‘cake’ for breakfast– here’s my take on a classic. But the instructions here are as close as it gets to “perfect,” and the result? Truly fluffy, puffy pancakes that are never heavy or dense and that are flavored with a pleasant vanilla aroma and taste. Tiramisu Pancakes. A few days ago, I put a call out on Twitter for help.

~Jaden These amazing Tiramisu Pancakes started out as a casual idea spurred by a tweequest for things to do with half a cup of mascarpone, and the fact that I had just posted a pancake recipe on my blog. The maple-butter glaze is optional, but it gives the pancakes a nice boost of sweetness and extra maple flavor to remind you that these are, in fact, pancakes. I also maintain that, as decadent as it sounds, it might be a tad healthier than regular pancakes because you're not drowning it in syrup. ~Ivory Hut.
