Tenho o prazer de postar as fotos do casamento do Jader e da Sarah. Certamente foi um dos casais mais apaixonados que já tive a oportunidade de fotografar. O casamento, que foi realizado em Ituporanga, além de belíssímo, foi super descontraído. Aproveitamos pouco mais uma região interior da cidade, entre plantações e uma casa enxaimel. But few of the regurgitaters of the idea can tell you exactly how. Stephen Mayes, director of VII Photo Agency, is one of those few. He argues that the rise of digital changed the very nature of photography by moving it from a fixed image to a fluid one. The swift pace at which we create images is only matched by the pace at which we discard them and yet, paradoxically, we’ve never been more engaged with images.
Photography is less about document or evidence and more about community and experience … and that’s not a bad thing. “The way we relate to imagery is changing,” says Mayes, who thinks the pace of change is astonishing. Mayes suggests that comparing this new fluid image to the old fixed image is like calling an automobile a horseless carriage. Wired: Why are we talking about cellphone photography? Metaphysics of an Urban Landscape is an ongoing series of photographs by Milan-based photographer Gabriele Croppi that features high-contrast, black-and-white photographs of major cities around the world.
His images often feature a single subject illuminated by a slice of sunlight in front of a background filled with shadows and negative space. His photographs of New York City are especially striking, as a normally chaotic city is turned into a silent play of light and darkness. In addition to New York City, Croppi has used the same technique in other major cities around the world, including Paris, Moscow, Rome, and London. Croppi was won a number of awards for his work, most notably the 2011 European Photo Exhibition Award. He currently works in the publishing industry in Milan and teaches at the Italian Institute of Photography.
