Fountain Pen Brands Katab Brand Brothers Walter and Eric Kornfeld, who escaped from the Nazis in Austria, established a factory for the manufacture of fountain- and mechanical pencils in Ramat-Gan, a suburb of Tel-Aviv, in 1938.
The factory was located on 30 Bialik Street on the second floor of a two-story building. They were not connected in any way to the writing equipment industry but nevertheless established a successful business, trading under the name of KATAB. The name, as written in English is not a Hebrew word but rather Arabic and the meaning is either "wrote" or "a written document", while in Hebrew the word as spelled may mean, as a verb, "has written" or again "a written document". If the Kornfeld family had only aimed at Jewish customers, they would have written KATAV.

I had been drooling over the new Lamy Safari in bright lime green, but trying to justify that as a purchase (something pen addicts are pretty good at), but at the same time, I'm trying to be careful about what I purchase as I have limited financial resources. I want to get pens that are different to what I already own, to change my collection so to speak. So Kevin tells me, "give me two days to figure out our budget", which made sense to me, so I accepted. The rat!!! He wanted two days because he had already picked this pen and ordered it from Mauricio at Vintage Pen and was waiting for it to arrive! Pen collectors' glossary. Diamine Burnt Sienna’s Sheen. He found this paper in his quest to find paper that would work well both with smooth fountain pen nibs, as well as with sharp, flexy vintage steel dip nibs. He found the dip nibs often cut the fibers of the page and the ink would feather. Sometimes, with a very sharp nib, the fibers may be cut and you don't even realize it, then your ink feathers.
