His calls attracted immediate attention; with his cloudy but very emphatic views on race, he’s excellent at courting publicity for the 21,000-student university. It might have been but another in the long line of incidents of campus racism that pop up every few years around the country.
Young people who imagine themselves political provocateurs or satirists have defended their “ghetto themed” parties and stereotype-laden newspaper column missives or acts of campus vandalism by begging offended parties to have a better sense of humor. A controversial student group known for inciting racial tensions has shut down. The Towerlight reports that Youth for Western Civilization's faculty advisor, , sent a letter on March 8 to the group's president, Matthew Heimbach, condemning the group's tactics and withdrawing his support as advisor. Towson University senior Matthew Heimbach has launched an effort to form a “White Students Union” on his campus, saying he is frustrated by the political correctness that holds his and other colleges hostage. He hopes to combat what he claims is a series of racially motivated black-on-white crimes near Towson, and give a voice to his white peers. “We are living in a culture where we’re so PC [politically correct] … that it’s gotten ridiculous,” Heimbach told The College Fix.
