Peter Williams Deloitte Yammer

Back in April we decided to take Yammer from a tool used by the more geeky types within Deloitte, about 60 of us, and get it out into the mainstream. Ross Hill from the Innovation team in Deloitte posted on Watching a Yammer Network Explode and told how we got a 350% increase in users in a day by getting people involved in our Green Dot marketing campaign. Since then the network has continued to grow exponentially and Yammer has become an important tool for Deloitte Australia. It is being used for so many different things and we now have more than 150 groups. These range from using the yammer network to support our Google Wave rollout to th Deloitte Mum's group, where mums on maternity leave or juggling work and life upport each other. it is also a crucial part of our innovation program where ideas are discussed and executed. http://deloittedigital.blogspot.com/2009/12/how-to-keep-yammer-network-exploding.html

today's Twitter is like Napster in Y2K

To me it's self-evident that every news organization, like every blog, should define a community of bloggers. People who write with passion about their expertise. I've been writing about this, evangelically, since the mid-90s. Still there are very few rivers out there. Someday they will be a fixture. It will be self-evident to everyone else too.
