The production and availability of digital learning objects and digital video clips make it imperative for teachers to use new pedagogical strategies that utilise these resources to the fullest extent. Students demand more interactive learning opportunities and hands-on activities that utilise technology and create interesting and authentic avenues for exploring information and research. Students today are quite adept at managing their own learning and in creating their personal responses using multimedia. Given the software and hardware needed, they are unafraid of expressing their understanding in new and divergent ways and creating new knowledge. ABC 'Catalyst' Kahootz - eLearning ICT - DEECD. The Kahootz Project will aim to inspire, develop and support classroom teachers who are interested in technology to expand their vision and skills, to explore innovative practice with their students and to influence more effective use of technology in their schools.
It has an even deeper impact on our participant schools by: • Building a community of schools interested in game making • Connecting classrooms • Sharing professional dialogue, resources and expertise • Upskilling all participants on their ICT skills. The rest of my week is spent teaching Year 5 students. Each class at the school I am based in has an interactive whiteboard in their room and our staff are currently in the process of familiarising themselves with ActivStudio.
