In my house “hey yo” has taken the place of “hi” or “hello” as the common greeting. (We’re big Always Sunny fans at my house and the phrase has just sort of caught on.) Even my three year old says it. For the sign, I used a piece of scrap plywood I had lying around, and stained and painted it using the same method as the project board I recently shared.

All you’ll need is an old cardboard box and a cell phone with a flash light app. 1. 2. 3. 4. Trace the outline of the text lightly with a pencil. How to Make a Bench Cushion. Have an awesome chest or bench that needs a cushion? Christen, from the Creative Team, is sharing a fantastic tutorial on how to make a bench cushion! Enjoy! -Linda I am always looking for quick sewing projects that can make a big impact! For this project, I had been wanting to make an update to my guest room, which had a stack of storage bins taking up valuable space. So, I decided to add a bench seat by taking a trunk I had in another area of the house that was also not serving a purpose, and make a quick cushion. I’m super happy with how the quick and easy cushion turned out, and it only took me an hour and $20 to turn that previously awful looking corner into an inviting bench seat for guests.

Here are the supplies you’ll need: 1 yd of home decor weight fabric 1 22″ zipper 1 piece of foam, cut to length of desired cushion 3 yds of 1/4″ cording for piping 1/4 yd of coordinating fabric for piping Cutting Instructions Measure your bench, and cut your foam to the finished size. How To Paint Furniture Part 2: Distressing Furniture. Are you ready to learn how to distress furniture? Jenn, Creative Team, is here for Part 2 of her ‘How to Paint Furniture’ series! She is going to show us her awesome distressing furniture technique. Enjoy!

-Linda In Part 1 we talked about sanding, priming, and how to paint a smooth, undistressed finished. Today I’m going to show you one of my favorite methods for painting and distressing furniture to give it that perfect aged look. I want to start by going back to prep though and touch on something we didn’t the last time: stripping furniture. This table started out black, with white primer underneath, which by the way, if you’re going to paint with dark paint, it’s best to use a tinted primer.

Once it’s stripped, do any necessary sanding to get the rest of the paint off. Next comes staining. Let the stain dry for at least a few hours (overnight is best) and then let’s get onto the fun part: paint! My favorite paint finishes for furniture are flat or satin. Happy crafting, Jenn. Hello. One of our half baths had a crusty old wood mirror that needed to be refinished or replaced for our bathroom renovation.
