Bitcrush has always had a knack of making something as intangible as emotion seem somehow within reach, and on Collapse Mike Cadoo has taken this project to a new level and managed to create the most human and powerful record of his career to date.
While this is beyond doubt a Bitcrush record and still invokes a feeling of a desperate nostalgic hope like a crack of sunlight through parting clouds, this time the clouds are much blacker and tempestuous, the viewing platform less stable. Bitcrush has changed, adding almost JK Broaderick-esque detuned guitars and fragile yet distressed guitar parts, he weaves these new elements into his work effortlessly and somehow manages to make Collapse feel like a living breathing entity.
As Bitcrush has always been the sleeve on which Cadoo wears his heart, the fact that he puts this stylistic shift down to, as he puts it, "emotionally exhausting events in my life", is hardly a surprise and can be felt in every note. Toch komt men dit visje niet vaak bij een aquariaan tegen, hetgeen waarschijnlijk komt door de toch wel speciale aandacht (voedsel) die dit visje nodig heeft. Elke keer ben ik weer geboeid door zijn bijzondere lichaamsbouw en ging zodoende de in mijn bezit zijnde literatuur eens nasnuffelen. Vindplaats: De zuidelijke Filippijnen, Borneo, Java, Sumatra, Malakka, Burma en Thailand. Uiterlijk: De lengte van het visje is maximaal 80 mm. In een aquarium kunnen we zodra de dieren, die aanvankelijk wat schuw zijn, zich hebben aangepast aan de omgeving, veel plezier aan deze vissen beleven. Voortplanting: De voortplanting is even interessant als het visje zelf. Is het aquarium waarin de vissen zijn ondergebracht voldoende ruim, waarbij in hoofdzaak de oppervlakte een rol speelt, dan groeien bij ruime voedering de jongen snel op en zijn aan de zich vervormende aarsvin reeds na twee maanden de mannetjes te herkennen.

Karakter:Het Halfsnavelbekje is een levendige oppervlaktevis, die nogal agressief kan zijn tegenover soortgenoten. In het begin kunnen ze wat schrikachtig zijn, ze kunnen al heel erg schrikken van slaande deuren, of verlichting die plotseling aan of uit gaat.Ze kunnen lagere temperaturen verdragen, maar bij hogere temperaturen worden ze actiever.Het is een vis die in brak of hard water leeft, dus eventueel kan er wat zeezout toegevoegd worden.
