Here’s a list of ways to use SMART Recorder, the effective, but underutilized, tool that accompanies SMART Notebook. ** Cast the students in the role of teacher. You can record (including audio) a student-volunteer’s demonstration of the steps needed to solve a specific type of math problem. (Extension: have one volunteer write on the SMART Board and another student either provide audio commentary or questions for the volunteer or both.) – You can then replay that video with or without audio as a review exercise. – You can post the video on a school website share that video with absent students with Internet access at home or with students returning from an absence. (Getting permission from students’ parents ahead of time is a good idea) – You can send it to your principal to share your students’ tech savvy.
