The search for a lost recipe begins

When she died nearly two years ago, most of her recipes died with her, including a Scandinavian butter cookie that I grew up eating each year during Christmastime. A cookie shaped into parallelogram, with horizontal ridges made from the tips of fork tines, these cookies were a sign of the holiday season in our family. Finding a similar recipe requires detective work. The clues are few, the evidence intangible. Treat of the Week: Unbirthday Cake - Today's Nest. I am very lucky to have attended the International Food Bloggers Conference in Portland, Oregon last weekend.

It was 3 days completely packed with information, fun, and, as you might have guessed… food. The city of Portland was welcoming and friendly. Apparently, I visited on a perfect weekend. The weather was stuff we only dream of in Dallas. Foods, and particularly healthy foods, played an important part of the event and evidently in the Portland culture overall. One such manufacturer is Bob’s Red Mill. Several weeks before attending I received an email inviting me for a tour of the facility along with several other conference attendees.

Bradley at lunacafe.com...AND the chef that handed over the recipe. sometimes we just get to enjoy the food at a restaurant never to have it again, but she loved it so much she begged the owner for the recipe. i was so happy she did. ..AND so kind of Chef de Cuisine Gabrielle Quiñónez because there are many many chefs out there who covet their recipes so that no one can duplicate it.
