When I wake up, often around the time party animals on the west coast are just heading home, I start each day not with a cup of freshly brewed hot java, but with a tall, blessed glass of creamy iced coffee in a glass. I’ve been an iced coffee freakazoid for years and years. To say I couldn’t live without it is an understatement. It gives me the tools I need to cope. Iced coffee is a complicated thing, and there are many different approaches. 1. Given the previous set of facts, one would assume that the logical solution would be to brew hot coffee, then transfer the brew to the fridge, allow it to cool, and use it to make iced coffee from there. There are reasons this method results in a smoother, richer, more delicious concentrate than simply brewing strong coffee and refrigerating it. (Note: I’ve totally adapted/tweaked coffee/water amounts to suit my own tastes. DIY Herb Tea Blends. Mixing your own herbs for tea, is as easy as choosing the scents that appeal to you and blending up your favorite choices.
I find that in the summer months, ice tea is the beverage of choice in my home. Here are the basic herbs that I grow to make a fabulous tea that everyone loves. Flowery Notes-The basic blend includes flowery notes of some sort. I use violet flowers,chamomile flowers, dandelion petals, calendula petals or wild rose petals for this. Add one part of this herb. After mixing up your favorite blend of herb tea, using these ideas, keep in a glass jar in a dark place. A part means that whatever measurement you have handy: i.e. your hand, a cup, a tablespoon, is the overall measurement, and you use one or more of them per ingredient.

We are back in its suffocating grip, when the only thing that brings comfort is something cold. I mostly like the A/C and get fussy when John suggests we go somewhere. That means I have to actually go outside and experience the misery. It’s kind of funny because I used to WORSHIP the sun……….you can laugh now. Here’s a recipe for iced coffee that’s PERFECT in every way. Brew a FULL pot of coffee. Fill a couple of ice cube trays with coffee. Leave the rest of the pot of coffee on counter to cool then store in fridge. When you’re ready, fill a glass with your coffee ice cubes. Pour 2/3 rds full with coffee and the rest with milk of your choice. Pour in your milk or cream of choice.
Put in sweetner of choice – it usually takes double the amount you use, only because you’re probably using a larger glass than your normal coffee mug. Give it a good stir. The exact recipes for chai tea vary by region and can be made with various different spices, though this recipe combines some of the most popular into one delicious hot drink… or you can even serve it over ice for a refreshing iced chai “latte”! Ingredients: 2 cups of water 1 cup Earth Balance® Original Soymilk 2 teaspoons black tea leaves (good choices: Assam, English Breakfast, Earl Grey, Darjeeling) 1 cardamom pod 1 clove 1/2 inch piece of ginger 1/4 inch piece of cinnamon stick Sugar to taste In a sauce pot, combine the Earth Balance® Soymilk, water and spices, bring to a boil.
When it begins to boil, add the tea leaves and keep on a rolling boil for 2 minutes or till the tea leaves are brewed and the tea has a dark golden color. Add sugar to taste.
