The Volunteer Center, South Bay-Harbor-Long Beach was founded in 1963 by the Junior League of Long Beach in response to the needs of the community. For almost 50 years , we have referred almost a million volunteers to thousands of nonprofit agencies who maintain critical programs for those in need. The Volunteer Center acts as the clearinghouse for programs that continue to make a real difference in our community and promotes personal involvement as a part of the solution. The Volunteer Center recognizes the invaluable role volunteers play in our society.
With support from the Walmart Foundation, we now provide free tools and trainings specifically for organizations that involve volunteers in the fight against hunger.

Sharefest develops comprehensive programs and services that strengthen communities and meet the needs in the lives of children and families. This has probably been the most difficult year we have ever faced ... however, due to Sharefest's work, our school–comprised of 100 precent 'at-risk kids–has thrived! Thanks to Sharefest we've had our largest graduating class and our highest percentage of proficiency on the California High School Exit Exams. YDA is changing the lives of youth in Los Angeles County and is a place where potential is unlocked, cultures are combined, friendships are formed and community leaders are birthed.

In 1987, a group of friends came together to research ways they could address New York City's serious social issues. Finding few established options to help, they took matters into their own hands and founded New York Cares. Their initiative has now become the city's leading volunteer organization.
