alairbattery

Make a saturated salt solution by mixing salt and water in the bowl. Some undissolved salt should remain in the bottom of the bowl after mixing. Shaking salt all around the vicinity of the bowl Modesto Tamez shows the chemical precision mixing needed to make the salt water solution...none. Pressing on the battery increases the current it delivers to the motor. Measure the voltage and current produced by the battery, perhaps 1 volt and 100 ma. http://www.exo.net/~pauld/activities/AlAirBattery/alairbattery.html
In this experiment we'll use home made thin layer chromatography plates to analyze black pen ink and compare components of this ink to other colored marker inks. Our hypothesis is that black ink is actually a composition of many color inks and we can separate them and find colored markers correspondent to each ink contained in the black marker. We'll conduct our ink chromatography experiment in two stages. In stage one we'll find if black color ink is a combination of many inks. http://www.scienceprojectlab.com/thin-layer-chromatography-for-kids.html

Flavor-changing additives, developed by New Jersey-based Salvona Technologies, contain nanospheres encapsulated in larger microspheres. When the microspheres burst, one flavor is released. The rupture of the nanospheres, some time later, releases another flavor, creating a taste experience that changes over time.

EC/TDS/PPM Meter

http://www.octiva.net/projects/ppm/ 2008-03-02: This article has been wikified and added to my projects wiki. This way i can more easily update it without needing to login to web server, and also allows for others to discuss and contribute. great eh? It can be found here! XD Design Goal: Make a EC/TDS/PPM meter thats nice and quite accurate while costing me little or at least next to nothing that i can connect to a microprocessor or voltmeter.
Before we start, I must warn you. This is obiously NOT a safe experiment you should allow small kids to make, as this will combust with an explosive-like effect with a drop of water, and might not always go off the way you want it to. This mixture is hygroscopic (will soak moisture from air) because off the ammonium nitrate included. So if it is very humid or raining, making this is not a good idea.

New process generates hydrogen from aluminum alloy to run engine

The method makes it unnecessary to store or transport hydrogen - two major challenges in creating a hydrogen economy, said Jerry Woodall, a distinguished professor of electrical and computer engineering at Purdue who invented the process. "The hydrogen is generated on demand, so you only produce as much as you need when you need it," said Woodall, who presented research findings detailing how the system works during a recent energy symposium at Purdue. The technology could be used to drive small internal combustion engines in various applications, including portable emergency generators, lawn mowers and chain saws. The process could, in theory, also be used to replace gasoline for cars and trucks, he said. Hydrogen is generated spontaneously when water is added to pellets of the alloy, which is made of aluminum and a metal called gallium. The researchers have shown how hydrogen is produced when water is added to a small tank containing the pellets.
