There are host of vampire clans in the game, some of which are completely unknown, some of which are not allowed for players. Most vampires hail from the seven Camarilla clans, with a sizable minority belonging to Sabbat clans (with Caitiffs on the rise). The non-aligned clans make up less than 10% of the vampiric population of the World of Darkness. The best way to think of clans and bloodlines is if you can imagine a large, extended family scattered throughout the world. Iimagine the most disfunctional household you can and multiply the envy and abuse therein a hundred times over. Imagine that of this household is mainly comprised of criminals of the worst sort -- backstabbers, wife-beaters, extortionsts, murderers, rapists, slaverholders.
