Seek no further than RationalWiki's list of forms of government. Anarchism A form of government (or lack thereof) with no ruling hierarchy, instead decisions are made at a directly democratic level: laws are created by citizens alone, although they may be enforced by institutions that are not publicly controlled.
Anarcho-capitalism A stateless society composed of sovereign individuals living within the constraints of a corporatist market. Anarchy Anarchy is lack of a central government, as there is no one recognized governing authority; in anarchy there is no effective government (as opposed to an "ineffective government") and each (rugged) individual has absolute liberty. Aristocracy A form of government in which a select few rule based on inherited hereditary right. Autocracy A form of government in which the political power is held by a single, self-appointed ruler.
Capracracy Rule by goats. Communist state Corporatocracy Demarchy. Low Cost Recipes Archives • Living Ithaca. Sometimes, being frugal means you have to skimp on higher quality ingredients. Or having to survive on plainer grains, like rice. Throughout the years, I have found many ways to jazz up or stretch what little we may have in our cupboards so that most importantly, I keep the kids from feeling like they have empty tummies, or missing out.
One thing they never used to eat, surprisingly, was rice. Up until about a year ago, they would not touch rice – maybe it was the blandness, or the texture. It just didn’t appeal to them. Until I started seasoning it, and now they can’t get enough. You can use any herbs you like to season, but I usually use whatever will compliment what I’m serving it with. Seasoned Rice serves 4 What you need: 1-2 tablespoons of oil (any kind you like – canola, olive, coconut, butter, etc…) 1 onion, diced Seasoning of choice White wine – any cooking wine will do What to do: Heat the oil in a wide pan, and add the onion: ). Celery Romaine Lettuce A quick note from our founder- P.S. Want to be an artist? First, go a little nuts. Korean novelist Young-ha Kim (TED Talk, Be an artist, right now) understands if you’re too busy, too tired or too flat-out disinclined to make art. “There are hundreds of reasons why we can’t be artists right now,” he says.
“Don’t they just pop into your head?” And yet, Kim has a sweeping rebuttal for any and all excuses: Stop being so reasonable. He invites the artistically challenged to suspend their reasonable doubts, if only for a moment, and to try “going a little nuts” on an artistic project. The results, he says, may surprise you. Art begins with tireless play, so unleash your inner brat. If anything, Kim says, adults should join in on the fun. Art is all about going nuts — so embrace it. “Writing such an unjustifiable sentence,” Kim says, “and continuing in order to justify it, Kafka’s work became the masterpiece of contemporary literature.”
Whatever form your creativity takes, do it. Don’t worry about the where or the how of creative life. Illustration by Alisa Wismer/TED. Satin grey. 10 worst mistakes people make in their 20s. 1. Pursuing a paycheck instead of a passion. In your 20s, you’re likely still finding who you really are. You’re still allowed to be a little selfish and, hopefully, you’ve got dreams. Because of this, no other time in your life will be so perfect to pursue what makes you happy and what truly energizes you over financial success (which is a crapshoot, anyway). Anything creative and risky takes time to become lucrative, and you will never have this much time again in the rest of your life. Later on, you may have a house to pay off and children to take care of. 2. You’ve heard it a million times before: Millennials have been raised in a “gimme, gimme, gimme” world and they expect everything to be available at their fingertips. 3. News flash: you’ll be “figuring it out” until the day you die. 4.
As we get older, we slow down. 5. Okay, sure. 6. We’ve all been there in one way or another — the boyfriend that doesn’t want you to travel. 7. 8. 9. No man makes his own success single-handedly. Creator of 5-hour Energy Wants to Power the World's Homes—With Bikes. The man who created the 5-hour Energy drink says he has more money than he needs—about $4 billion more.
So he’s giving it away, spending his fortune on a quest to fix the world's biggest problems, including energy. Manoj Bhargava has built a stationary bike to power the millions of homes worldwide that have little or zero electricity. Early next year in India, he plans to distribute 10,000 of his Free Electric battery-equipped bikes, which he says will keep lights and basic appliances going for an entire day with one hour of pedaling. Bhargava, who dropped out of Princeton University after a year because he was bored and then lived in ashrams in his native India for 12 years, doesn’t stop at bikes. He’s working on ways to make saltwater drinkable, enhance circulation in the body, and secure limitless amounts of clean geothermal energy—via a graphene cord. Could his bike really work? Who Is He? Bhargava’s a bit of a mystery man. Though generally low-profile, he’s not without controversy. How to Be a Better Writer: 6 Tips From Harvard’s Steven Pinker. U want 2B a better writer? Philippa Rice is a multi-talented artist who creates simple but beautiful comics about the everyday joys of living with someone you love. The title of her comic book, Soppy, is unapologetically fitting! Rice forgoes the usual stuff like hearts and roses, going instead for the everyday ways we share love with our significant others – be it our morning routines, a hug and a snuggle, or finishing the day in each others’ arms. If you love these pictures as much as we do, be sure to check out Puuung’s illustrations as well! A different sort of fantasy, but one that's extremely refreshing, disturbing, and entertaining -- one of the best fantasy reads to come out the past couple years. Even as we near 2015, The Prince of Thorns still stands tall among other strong fantasy books. For a dark, gritty, anti-hero driven fantasy, I felt strong Abercrombie vibes. There's a strong influence from A Game of Thrones -- and if you've ever read KJ Parker's The Engineer trilogy, you'll see some similarities in the tone and style of world. The setting of the world is interesting too, a sort of post-apocalypse world gone to hell that sparks similarities to Jack Vance's Dying Earth world.
This is the brutal story of Prince Jorg, a teenage princeling who abandoned his father's castle after witnessing the murder of his mother and brother. For most people, the first time they have sex is awkward, clumsy, incredibly not-pleasurable and, in the event that the deflowering takes place outside, potentially results in a nasty case of poison ivy. But just because most first-time sex stories are pretty uncomfortable and terrible doesn't mean they have to be, especially if you have the proper guidance and sex ed beforehand. Case in point: this awesome dad, who recently posted on Reddit about his surprisingly refreshing (not to mention progressive) sex advice for his 13-year-old son and 15-year-old daughter.
In a post on /r/sex, the dad (known only as t-away-man) said he gave his kids four pieces of advice for knowing whether they were "ready. " You're ready for sex, he wrote, if and only if you are: The fourth and perhaps most practical piece of advice? He told his kids "not to have sex in creepy places like school stairwells or behind the gym. Arrest this man for burglary, because he has officially stolen our hearts.
