List of facial hairstyles. Coiffure. List of hairstyles. Nihongami. Nihongami is one of many traditional Japanese hairstyles, dating to the Edo period, today most often seen on maiko (geisha apprentices).

Nihongami

Traditionally, two sides of the hair stick out until it curves to the back. The hair is pulled in the back as well in the front. Other maiko hairstyles include wareshinobu (only worn during the actual apprenticeship, with a round curve on the top and sides and a round bun in the middle), Ofuku, Yakko-shimada, Katsuyama, and Sakko. Gion Kobu maiko wear a special hairstyle for the Miyako Odori.

Long hair. A man with shoulder length hair, 1599 Long hair is a hairstyle where the hair is allowed to grow to considerable length.

Exactly what constitutes long hair can change from culture to culture, or even within cultures. For example, a woman with chin-length hair in some cultures may be said to have short hair, while a man with the same length of hair in some of the same cultures would be said to have long hair.
