Molded Papier-Mâché Form. David Coffin Photo: David Coffin by David Coffinfrom Threads #75, p.40 The best thing about the poured-foam form that you make from a surgical-plaster cast or mold is that the mold makes a very accurate copy of your body contours, complete with distinct collarbones and shoulder blades.
It's more accurate in this regard than the other methods (duct-tape dress form #1, duct-tape dress form #2, paper-tape dress form). Plaster is also better at molding to and preserving concavities, so this is a good approach if your body has distinct hollows that tape might simply fill over. Gail Gosser, an artist and art teacher from Schwenksville, Pennsylvania, likes the accuracy of the plaster mold. When the glue is dry (and at any point in the future, if needed), reinforce the join and edges with more mâché in pulp or traditional strip form. This method is time-consuming (drying time can add days) but very accurate, and it suits Gail's training as a sculptor.

And as soon as he saw the naval pilot he immediately said that one is cool can you build it? In the immortal words of a little plastic handyman yes we can (too many kids shows sorry with 4 boys whaddya expect). So with a block of styrofoam hacked and sanded in the shape and size of my melon, 20lbs of air dry clay along with one total teardown and redo cause the shape was just wrong this is where we are. One thing I noticed along the way is you have to take alot of artistic liscence (sp)? Let me know what ya think. Bluerealm - Done With My Armor.... Belakor's Mjolnir Armor Build Thread. <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Panton6 @ Dec 15 2007, 08:44 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>woah mines is still on the sheets of paper on pepakaura, i better go and cut them out then put them together. would you sudjest me to use fiberglassing resin or sculptamold?
</div>I don't really know much (or anything really) about sculptamold, other than what I've read in 1ManBattalion's topic so I can't really say if one is better than the other. It does look to be more of a bondo replacement rather than a fiberglass replacement so you'd probably need to reinforce the pep model with something like resin, 'glass, or some other material. Legendary Armor. Reach Live Action Reference. Fallout New Vegas, NCR Veteran Ranger Armor. Or as some know him: "that cool looking dude on the front cover of the new vegas game" pretty fond of the design of this guy, so i decided to try my hand at making the best i can for him.Edit: wow!
Elite showcase! Well for those who want a spoiler, here what the finished project looks like checkout page 19 & 20 for gallery links and more shots i was eager to try out foam armor techniques i see popping around, and wanted to see what different thickness foam will do when combined.. So i started with the armored riot vest first.i drew a paper plan by hand, eye'ballin' it and then copied a symetrical version of it to card stock till i was satisfied, after that i cut the shapes in foam. and rounded the edges started to form them into good shapes with some heat. and then glued them down, as well as using some elastic strapping to make a "rig" for the vest to be wearable. Thorssoli's MkVI Costume Buildup. I can't post anywhere but the noob forum yet, so I figure that after a good month of lurking it's time for my first post. Here's what I've got going so far.Step one, a low-res model to test for sizing: Step two, a couple of hi-res models because I printed one the wrong size: Step three, coat the paper models with fiberglass resin: Step four, coat the inside with several layers of urethane casting resin for strength: Step five, bondo and sand and bondo and sand and bondo and sand: Step six, test fit the visor: Stay tuned...
