Hidden Key Items. Letter to a Daughter and Letter to a Wife During May 2000, I received correspondence from a person claiming to have discovered a couple of hidden items in the game: two letters.

Hidden Key Items

One letter is to a daughter in Kalm, and the other another letter to a wife in Kalm. The e-mail I received is displayed below (edited): "I have found with the Gameshark that there are two key items that I have never known about and were possibly in the Japanese version of this game. They are two letters, one is to a daughter in Kalm and the other is a letter to a wife in Kalm. Being skeptical, I requested more information. "The code is Key Item Select The key items are divided into four sets of 16 items, the last set having only 3. Hex: binary: 0001 = 0000000000000001 : Item 1 0003 = 0000000000000011 : Items 1-2 0007 = 0000000000000111 : Items 1-3 00FF = 0000000011111111 : Items 1-8 You can only have item sets 1&2 or 3&4 enabled; if you mix them, the game will slow down or lock up.

Mystery Panties. Giant-Sized Aeris. The most infamous (and definately the weirdest) place in the Debug Room is the one directly to the south of Yuffie (who stands in the "lobby").

Giant-Sized Aeris

It contains only three characters: the Doctor from Mideel, his Nurse, and a huge sprite of Aeris. The Doctor and Nurse are standing fairly still, but Aeris is hopping up and down and gesturing excitedly. All three are dimly-lit, and "Electric de Chocobo" plays as the background music. When you first get to this room, you're given the following options: If you choose "For those in a hurry", you'll get the regular Aeris menu. However, if you choose "For those with a little time", you will be able to talk to any one of the characters. It's as if the ground is in pain from Cloud walking on top of it! Cloud nods, and Aeris goes into her "thinking" pose. Note that not only is Hades a summon in the game, it is also a synonym for "Hell". Nothing happens after this remark of hers, and you're free to talk to the characters again. The "Red Man" In fiddling around with the FFVII PC editing program Cosmo, I came across this strange background, located within the game's field data archive: What is that little red man?

The "Red Man"

I certainly didn't remember seeing anything like that while playing the game. However, what I found even odder was that there was no "regular" version of this background, which could've been the one I remembered from FFVII. Confounded by this discovery, I posted the image on the Citadel's Forums. I got a fairly large number of responses. Test0.jpg (800×711)
