Using LEGO® Mindstorms® Education NXT to teach STEM. Robotics expert Ashley Green considers LEGO® MINDSTORMS® Education NXT and its application in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). But he says more investigation needs to be done in the field of maths teaching and the science lab. “Perhaps this article will inspire more D&T teachers to collaborate with educational researchers in UK universities on the development and use of LEGO Robotics in STEM Education,” he says. De leerkracht haalt al het materiaal van een website en zet het op de pc’s op school. De leerlingen bekijken het instructieblad op de pc, daarna bouwen ze aan de hand van digitale (3d) bouwtekeningen een model en programmeren dat met behulp van speciale software, de NXT. Voor wie? Leerkrachten en docenten uit het PO en VO. Waarom? Het werken met de Bouwstenen stimuleert creatief techniekonderwijs, probleemoplossend denken en versterkt het inzicht in (natuurkundige) processen en begrippen.
