Law Notes « Think.IO. Once upon a time I was at Law School, while entertaining and fun one of the more useful things I found were the notes floating around.

Law Notes « Think.IO

Mostly they were useful just to compare and play with, I’ve kept them here for others because apparently they are useful. Please remember they are very old by this point. But do as you will with them. Hopefully these notes should make University life just that much easier. Please keep in mind some may be old and if this is all your relying on to get you through your course you are going to fail, and you can trust me on that one.

Many thanks to those who have supplied the notes over the years and to those who haven’t contributed please do, karma helps with exams, its a widely believed fact :) Mail to: notes@think.io Oh, Brisbane people! Reading List: Media Industries, History and Convergence (Radio/TV/Film/Internet)

I’m currently writing the proposal for my dissertation, (very) tentatively titled: “Selling Independent New Media: Web Series and the Industry in a Time of Change.” (For those not in the academy, don’t ask what a proposal is: it’s a boring answer). As a graduate student, one of your constant anxieties is missing something: not knowing some key source, fact or theory. As I noted in my previous post with a reading list, I found it really hard to find good bibliographies when trying to figure out what was important to read. The best sources were obviously the notes sections of books and current articles, and it required a lot of compilation! Below is my working bibliography for the dissertation.

And, as before, citations are inelegantly formatted in terms of style; there will be many errors. Abercrombie, N. & Longhurst, B. (1998). Acham, C. (2004). Althusser, L. (1998). Anderson, C. (1994). Media Industries: New books on the media industries (and related book review assignment) As the midterm assignment for my Media Industries graduate seminar (new syllabus to be posted soon), students write up book reviews of recent publications.

Media Industries: New books on the media industries (and related book review assignment)

The main requirements I have for selecting a book include: The book has to have been published in the last three years, thereby increasing the odds that the student can publish their review; A reasonable amount of the book has to focus on the media industries. (I leave the exact amount open for discussion between myself and the student – they need to make the case.); Students have to be able to identify a venue to which they could send it for publication.

Prior to writing their reviews, students are advised to read the submission instructions as well as look at sample reviews in a range of journals (e.g., Popular Communication, Cinema Journal, Television and New Media, Scope, etc.). Ideally, those students who are satisfied with their reviews can subsequently send them out for publication. · Denise Bielby and C. . · Joshua M. . · Ole J. Deuzeblog.
