Toilet Paper Roll Wall Art

So the time has come, it’s Pinterest Challenge time again! Every season Sherry from YHL and Katie from Bower Power throw a little link party to get people to stop pinning things and actually start making. This couldn’t have come at a better time because I have wanted to start this project forever and once Miss Kelly made her way into my kitchen I knew it was time to start it. This was the image I saw that sparked me to start saving my toilet paper rolls. You can find the post here. I literally have been saving my rolls for. ever. Here’s what my toilet paper wall art turned into! Ok let’s get down to the nitty gritty. Next, I cut them up.

Then, I took 4 pieces and glued them together using a hot glue gun. I continued doing this until I had about 40. Then I took the mirror I was going to use (10″ mirror purchased at Joann’s for $8) and placed it on the floor and started adding all the circles around keeping in mind that I wanted to keep it in a circle. Washi Tape

You might be wondering what all this fuss about tape is. You might be asking yourself - what is washi tape??? So, let's start at the beginning: A Short History of Washi Tape The whole washi tape phenomenon started in 2006. This was the start of mt masking tape. But What Is Washi Tape? To put it simply, washi tape is a high quality masking tape made of rice paper. But more than that, washi tape is a material which is beautiful yet useful at the same time. What's The Difference Between Washi Tape and Japanese Masking Tape? Snowflake ornaments. Coffee filters!

But they've been stiffened to make them more rigid and ornament like. And as an added bonus the fabric stiffening medium I used gave the filters a semi-translucent icy look. As you probably already know I love to craft with coffee filters. (As demonstrated by this post, this post, this post, this post, and this post) Not only are they cheap but they're so versatile. And at only a dollar for pack of 200, they were definitely on my list of materials for the tree. Now you've probably seen more than one tutorial on how to cut snowflakes from coffee filters so I'm just going to give you a brief overview of those steps. Step One: First smooth the filter out so it's flat. Step Two: Use a craft knife to cut the folded filter. I made some cuts along the edges and inside the middle to get a really detailed and delicate looking flake.

But since my Pro account is going to expire in a few days time (and I don’t feel like upgrading it again), a lot of my old photos won’t be displayed anymore. So I decided it would be a good idea to share the very best of them on my blog! These absolutely beautiful origami flowers were designed by Carmen Sprung and I just love them! Each flower is made from a single sheet of paper, not from a square though, but from a pentagon. I would recommend using fairly thick and strong paper (80-90 gsm) to fold them – Tant origami paper will be just the right choice! PAPER LANTERNS (with LED lights)

These non-flammable, simply beautiful, versatile, paper lights, have been a staple in our summer entertaining --- scattered on dinner tables, added to picnic blankets, strung across the patio; they're even a excellent kid's craft: the kids have made night lights for their rooms. After making "night lights" for Grayson's camping birthday, I just couldn't stop. My personal current favorite are the ones made of news print. They are just so fresh. See?
