Owl Granny Square Crochet Pattern. I posted this pattern on my friend Kara's crochet blog, Petals to Picots, back in August in honor of her Granny Month.

But I thought I would share it with you again and show you how the owl squares are being used! I made them into an owl bunting for my friend Shannon's owl-themed gender reveal party! It was first displayed over the party food table... But now it sits over her daughters crib! Birthday tiara. High top sneakers. This post contains affiliate links I attempted to make these following a couple of patterns and failed miserably.

I don't know if it was just me or if it was the patterns. For some reason I could not get the fronts to line up on either pattern. So after trying a couple of times I decided I would just write my own. These are obviously inspired by the countless number of other patterns out there that I couldn't get my head around. Now with video tutorial: Materials 3.50 mm hook or size needed to get a 3.5" sole. Baby sweater. I have finally written my notes up for my version of the Hexagon Sweater.Sue's Hexagon Baby Sweater.

Reindeer hat. I have to admit this is hands down my favorite hat that I have crocheted to date :) I love the addition of the felt pieces and the way the bottom rim flips over to create the snout.

In an effort to get this pattern to you before Christmas, I have only worked this up in 0-3 months size. But I am confident that the ears and antlers will work on the larger hats. The mouth portion doesn't have a specific stitch count (I will explain more below), so that should work for larger hats as well.

Now that we've warmed up with some simple crochet and knit hats, let's try our hand at something a bit more complicated!

The Bliss Hat

This hat made from a variation on the blanket stitch. The blanket stitch is most often used for making (you guessed it!) Blankets, so its normally worked flat and back and forth. We are going to mix it up today by working the blanket stitch in the round. It makes a neat slanting pattern that's a bit lacy, but still would be plenty warm. Although all the colors I've used here are traditionally feminine, I think this stitch would work for either a girl or a boy. I love the way the brim looks when It's folded up. Flip flops.
