Wisdom University - graduate studies with world renowned leaders. A global community of leaders, artists, and visionaries.... Personal to Planetary Transformation. Featured Article: Leadership for Sustainable Change. We live in a time of great transition in which our experiences and concepts of self, society and the universe are continuously dying and transforming; a time in which the most compelling need is visionary leadership that initiates opportunities for sustainable, healthy, wise and creative action in the world.
In this article, I explore the cultivation of a visionary leadership for sustainable change that is sourced from essential qualities of inner Being and that authentically responds to the many challenges on the planet today. How might we begin to understand leading from Being? Let’s begin with the power of imagination. Imagine a business, educational, political, religious or social organization whose leaders embody the essential qualities and values that they wish to see in others. Imagine leaders who truly walk the talk and live from a place of Being/Wisdom that manifests as Integrity, Peace, Compassion, Courage, Justice and Creative Possibility.
Cultivating access to Being. Cultivating Leadership for Sustainability: Home. Expanding Your Awareness. This play and display of attitudes, emotions, role- playing, and so on comes down to awareness.
Every situation lends itself to expanding your awareness. The word expand doesn’t mean that awareness blows up like a balloon. Instead, we can break down awareness into quite specific areas. When you enter a situation, you respond through the following aspects of your awareness:PerceptionsBeliefsAssumptionsExpectationsFeelingsOnce you change these aspects— even a few of them— a shift in consciousness occurs. As the first step to reaching a solution, it is critical to break down any problem until you reach the aspects in your awareness that are feeding the problem.
Perceptions: Every situation looks different to different people. Beliefs: Because they hide beneath the surface, beliefs seem to play a passive role. Assumptions: Because they shift according to the situation you find yourself in, assumptions are more flexible than beliefs. Vulnerability. Will you be my collaborator?
WHAT IS the single most important skill you can develop to ensure success in today’s economy? According to this brilliant Fast Company article (and my own experience), the answer is…adaptability. “The new reality is multiple gigs, some of them supershort, with constant pressure to learn new things and adapt to new work situations, and no guarantee that you’ll stay in a single industry.” But what exactly does it mean to be adaptable? Is it really a skill you can learn and hone? My gut says yes. Collaboration & Adaptation: One coin, two sides If you’ve followed this blog or my newsletters, you’ve undoubtedly heard me talk about the importance of collaborative skills, but let’s break it down further. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6.
So, collaboration skills are also adaptability skills. I’m looking for collaborators I’ve wanted to help people become better collaborators for a while now. I’m so excited to get started on all this, but I’m missing one big thing. 1. Living Deeply Practices. Tami Simon Speaks with Dr. Kelly McGonigal - The Neuroscience of Change.
