Caylee Anthony homicide. Caylee Marie Anthony (August 9, 2005 – 2008) was a two-year-old American girl who lived in Orlando, Florida, with her mother, Casey Marie Anthony, and her maternal grandparents, George and Cindy Anthony. On July 15, 2008, she was reported missing to 9-1-1 by Cindy, who said she had not seen Caylee for 31 days and that Casey's car smelled like a dead body had been inside it. Cindy said Casey had given varied explanations as to Caylee's whereabouts before finally telling her that she had not seen Caylee for weeks.[1] Casey told detectives several falsehoods, including that the child had been kidnapped by a nanny on June 9, and that she had been trying to find her, too frightened to alert the authorities.[2] She was charged with first-degree murder in October 2008 and pleaded not guilty.

Disappearance On July 13, 2008, while doing yard work, Cindy and George Anthony found a notice from the post office for a certified letter affixed on their front door. Case Investigation Arrests and charges. Casey Anthony Trial, Day 1: Caylee's ‘Accidental Drowning’ No Explanation for Circumstantial Evidence: The Criminal Report Daily : Investigation Discovery. ORLANDO, Fla. — The long-awaited first day in Casey Anthony’s death penalty trial had a “pinch-me-I-must-be-dreaming, slow-mo mood" — that is, before May 24 turned nasty. Soon after, the Orange County Florida court would hear Casey Anthony’s defense attorney, Jose Baez, boldly relate in opening remarks that Caylee Anthony accidentally drowned in the family’s backyard pool.

Baez’s audacious claim — accompanied by sordid accusations that George, and possibly Casey’s brother, Lee, sexually molested the defendant when she was eight — does not do away with a tangle of troubling evidence against the 25-year-old single mom. Having opened the Pandora’s box labeled “accidental death,” Casey’s cadre of witnesses must now deflect or disprove strong circumstantial evidence, including: Duct tape evidence: At the time of her death, Caylee’s lower jaw was wrapped three times around with Henley duct tape — the same tape found on gas cans Casey frequently used from the Anthony garage.

Aphrodite Jones Reports: From the Casey Anthony Trial Courtroom: The Criminal Report Daily : Investigation Discovery. After almost two weeks of jury selection, today is the day that Judge Perry plans to swear in the Casey Anthony jury. The selection, having been moved to Clearwater, Fla., has been an intense process for everyone sitting in the courtroom ... yet Miss Anthony, oddly, has seemed so entirely composed throughout. That all changed, however, this morning, when a spectator, watching a potential juror being questioned about the death penalty ... suddenly burst out: "She killed someone, anyway!

" The woman, Elizabeth Ann Rogers, was lead out of the courtroom, and was brought back in, hyperventilating, hysterically crying, to stand before Judge Belvin Perry to show "cause" as to why she should not be held in contempt of court. What was striking about this "mini event," was the fact that Ms. Rogers, a curious bystander who wandered into the court, showed more emotion in the few minutes she stood before Judge Perry, than I have yet to see from Casey Anthony herself. What if my baby was killed? Casey Anthony: Wife of Serial Killer Joins Casey Anthony Defense: The Criminal Report Daily : Investigation Discovery. CLEARWATER, Fla. — Entering through the revolving door of Casey Anthony’s legal team, a woman packing her own notoriety has joined the defense group.

Mitigation specialist Rosalie Bolin, who married serial killer Oscar Ray Bolin via telephone, made her initial court appearance on May 11. Although her official role has not been identified, Bolin acted as Casey “whisperer” on a difficult day for the defendant. Suppose Casey Anthony receives a guilty verdict in her capital murder trial. In the penalty phase, grappling with her possible execution, will a jury make allowances for any number of events and crises people encounter in everyday life, yet who are not charged with killing their child? Consider Anthony defense attorney Ann Finnell’s extensive list of the numerous issues -- common to many, but when linked to the defendant, could offset her potential execution: Juror 1398 was among the group of potential panelists.

We all knew it was coming - a positive identification of 2-year-old Caylee Anthony - but until you actually hear it confirmed from an official source, it is a reality that you try not to think about. Unfortunately, that reality hit home today when Orange County Medical Examiner Dr. Jan Garavaglia announced her findings during a press conference in Orlando, Florida. "With regret, I am here to inform you that the skeletal remains found on December 11 are those of the missing toddler Caylee Anthony," Dr. Garavaglia said. "As is the usual protocol, the next of kin have been notified prior to making this information public.

"The DNA analysis was performed by the FBI lab in Quantico, Virginia. "My examination of the body and the evidence is complete barring no further bones being found and the anthropologic exam will be finished up shortly. Today's announcement comes eight days after child skeletal remains were found in a wooded area near the home of Caylee Anthony's mother, Casey Anthony. Child's Remains Removed From Scene Near Anthony Home. Casey's attorney spoke to the media Wednesday night but didn't offer a lot of insight into the case (watch Baez speak).

REACTION: Sheriff Beary | Leonard Padilla | Tim Miller | Legal Analyst | Forensics Expert AT SCENE: Ground Images | Aerial Images | Raw Aerial Video After several hours of combing over the scene, detectives loaded the remains in a white medical examiner's van and took them away. About 9:30am, an Orange County water meter reader, who had gone into the woods to relieve himself, discovered a bag about 20 to 30 feet off the sidewalk in the area of Chickasaw Trail and Suburban Drive (see map), around three-tenths of a mile from the Anthonys' home (map from location to Anthonys' home).

According to information obtained by Eyewitness News, when the meter reader kicked or picked up the bag, a skull fell out. Timeline of Events: Casey Anthony: Caylee Anthony.
