Drab to Fab: No Sew Ruffle Lamp Shade. MMMM.....

Drab to Fab: No Sew Ruffle Lamp Shade

I am loving all the neutral pallets lately. Burlap, canvas, duck weave, all incredibly delish! So slowly I am trying to move out some of the bolder colors in my front room and go more neutral, fresh, and light! One piece at a time I will get there. So I started with this lamp shade. Notice the lovely stain I can't get out....HIDEOUS! I took this luscious fabric....oh I love the woven earthy look! Next I cut it into strips. Then, because I am a horrid at sewing, I hot glued pleats all the way down each of my strips. I then layered each strip onto the lamp shade hot gluing those down as well.

Cut out a strip of slightly transparent lightweight paper as tall as the existing shade plus 1/2 inch and as wide as the shade's base plus about 7 inches or so, depending on size of shade. On the wrong side, measure and mark lines 1/2 inch to 1/4 inch apart, depending on desired size of pleat. Score lines across the paper strips with the point of a bone scorer (a flat tool made of bone, available in crafts stores). Use these lines as guides to accordion-fold the paper, pressing with the bone scorer to make crisp creases. 2. 3. How to Make a Flower Lamp Shade With Fabric - Tuts+ Crafts & DIY Tutorial. Ridiculously easy to make and almost for free. What you need is a cord with a lamp socket, some gold paper, glue, a pair of scissors and an empty toilet paper roll. Start by cutting a piece of the paper in the same size as the paper roll. /// Jag gjorde denna lampa idag och tänkte visa er hur. Glue the paper unto the roll and gently pull the paper roll over the socket. /// Limma fast guldpapperet på rullen och dra den försiktigt över sockeln. Tutu Lampshade How-To. To make these tulle lampshades, simply attach a child's tutu to a lampshade ring, and thread onto a bulb-and-socket cord, then hang from the ceiling.

Tutu Lampshade How-To

How to Make ItUse a lampshade wire ring with a washer top as the frame for your lampshade. We used a 10-inch ring with a 1/2-inch recess; the support wires are raised above the ring itself. We dipped the tutu in a basic pink or rose clothing dye to get a soft pink. Use Magna-Tac adhesive to glue the waistband of the tutu to the outside edge of the lampshade ring, and let dry. To wire the lamp, use a wire-end socket (or a bare-bulb hanging socket with a cord), plus a replacement plug (we liked the snap-on version; see our link for examples of both types). DIY Geometric Lamp Shade

Rachael from Penelope and Pip here. I’ve become very smitten lately with the idea of adding some geometric light shades to my studio. I wanted something bare so that plenty of light shone through and thought what else could be simpler than a 3-D square shade. As we are using balsa wood, this lampshade requires no glue or nails which makes it a very easy DIY. The best part of this project is once you make your frame you can always swap your colors if you need less neon next season.Let’s get started with materials: You will need:Twelve 10″ balsa wood sticks (or you can buy some larger ones and cut them to size with your craft knife).Neon yarn of your choiceSmall gauge wireWire cuttersSticky tape like scotchGet those yarn wrapping helpers ready (possibly you might need to bribe them with some chocolate!).

Now hang your light shade and enjoy it’s geometric beauty! Terra Politica » Phoenix Lamp. Phoenix is a design for a lampshade made from cardboard and paper – part of a series of cardboard furniture pieces i’m working on.
