12 Critical Things You Should Never Tolerate. There is so much in life that we just tolerate. Some of it we have to deal with (taxes, bad weather, traffic). But there’s a good portion of stuff that we tolerate even when we don’t have to. We step around things, overlook irritations, and mindlessly accept energy drains. Perhaps we’ve become so immune to these tolerations that we don’t recognize the negative impact they have on us.

Sometimes just recognizing the things we are tolerating in life gives us a renewed sense of hope and energy. However, when you address some of your bigger tolerations, you can completely change the course of your life and open doors to a world of happiness and inner peace that you didn’t know existed. Think about the poorest of the poor, living in squalor and despair without the hope of a better future. Mindfulness Rituals: 9 For Making Your Day Better. “Smile, breathe and go slowly.” - Thich Nhat Hanh, Zen Buddhist monk Post written by Leo Babauta. Are you simply moving through your day, without fully living? I did this for many years. It was as if life were just passing by, and I was waiting for something to happen. I always felt like I was preparing for something later. But today isn’t preparation for tomorrow. Today’s the main event. Fully live today by being mindful. You don’t need to do all of these, but give a few of them a try to see if they make your day better. Mindfulness Rituals Ritual isn’t about doing a routine mindlessly. Over the years I’ve learned dozens of little tricks and insights for making life more fulfilling.

They’ve added up to a significant improvement in the ease and quality of my day-to-day life. But the major breakthroughs have come from a handful of insights that completely rocked my world and redefined reality forever. The world now seems to be a completely different one than the one I lived in about ten years ago, when I started looking into the mechanics of quality of life. It wasn’t the world (and its people) that changed really, it was how I thought of it.

Maybe you’ve had some of the same insights. Or maybe you’re about to. 1. The first time I heard somebody say that — in the opening chapter of The Power of Now — I didn’t like the sound of it one bit. I see quite clearly now that life is nothing but passing experiences, and my thoughts are just one more category of things I experience. If you can observe your thoughts just like you can observe other objects, who’s doing the observing? 77 Creative Ways to Lighten Up In Tough Times. 51 Email Share We’re living in a time where nearly everyone is feeling overwhelmed with the changes and problems in the world. That seems obvious: if you don’t keep doing a habit, it won’t really become a habit.

So what’s the solution to this obvious problem? Find a way to keep doing it. When you look at it this way, the key to forming a habit is not how much you do of the habit each day (exercise for 30 minutes, write 1,000 words, etc.), but whether you do it at all. So the key is just getting started. Let me emphasize that: the key to forming a habit is starting each day. What do I mean by starting? Form the habit of starting, and you’ll get good at forming habits.

How to Start When You Face Resistance Form the habit of starting — easier said than done, right? Let’s first take a look at why you don’t feel like starting. You are comfortable with what you’re doing (reading online, probably), and the habit is less comfortable (it’s too hard). The Habit Course Self-Study Program. Conscious Living in 5 Easy Steps. What do we mean by conscious living? I suppose having greater self-awareness, and operating from a state of presence for longer periods, generally describes the term. A state of enlightenment even. Now becoming enlightened is one thing, maintaining this state in a world of ever increasing distractions is quite another. Here are 5 steps to keep you on track. 1. Inner stillness is one of the most important things you need to cultivate higher consciousness. How will this make me more conscious? When you allow stillness to develop you come to realise that your thoughts are not you, only the content of your mind.

How will it benefit others? You become like a tuning fork. 2. Taking things and people for granted is a sign of unconscious or automated living. By actively seeing the good in others we become less wrapped up in our own concerns. It makes them feel worthwhile and not taken for granted. 3. Recent studies have shown that kind acts can help raise levels of consciousness. 4. 5. Eoin Meegan. Six right livelihood guidelines. 101 Simple Truths We Often Forget. Instead of giving you information that you want, I’m going to teach you something today by being indirect. Here’s the lesson: everything you need, every revelation I’ve had, and everything that I could possibly write about on this blog, ca n be found inside yourself.

As in – with the proper thinking and questioning, you too can come to the conclusions that I’ve come to. You can help yourself instead of depending on me for help. “But Brett,” you ask, “Won’t that render you obsolete? Won’t I, the reader, then be able to replace you?” No, not necessarily. However, the lesson I’m trying to teach you is not that you can become me, but that when you need something – an idea, the strength to carry through your will, or anything else – it can be found within. To reach my goal for you, I’m going to ask you deep, philosophical questions that will test your thinking ability. These are designed to make you think. I'm on day 14 of a 21-day challenge that I semi-invented and so far I have to admit the results have been nothing short of amazing.

Now, when I say that I semi-invented it, that is purely because I took the idea from the excellent book 'Psycho Cybernetics' and put it in a format that everyone can follow, myself included. I'm not exaggerating when I say this challenge can literally help with any aspect of your life that you would like to improve. Before I go into more detail on how you can follow along, I need to talk a little about our 'self image' and why it is very important. Understanding the Self Image In the mid 20th Century, Maxwell Maltz who was a plastic surgeon, wrote a book called Psycho Cybernetics that has now sold millions of copies and been updated for modern times. In looking into this further, he states that we all have a self-image that is purely a mental image of how we see ourselves. The 21 Day Challenge Let's look at the 4 parts of this challenge… The 4 Parts 1. 2. 3. 4. Letting Go. To let go doesn't mean to stop caring; it means I can´t do it for someone else.

To let go is not to cut myself off; it's the realization that I can´t control another. To let go is not to enable, but to allow learning from natural consequences. To let go is to admit powerlessness, which means the outcome is not in my hands. To let go is not to try to change or blame another; I can change only myself. To let go is not to care for, but to care about.

To let go is not to fix, but to be supportive. To let go is not to judge, but to allow another to be a human being. To let go is not to be in the middle arranging all the outcomes, but to allow others to affect their own outcomes. To let go is not to be protective; it is to permit another to face reality. To let go is not to deny, but to accept. To let go is not to adjust everything to my desires, but to take each day as it comes and to cherish the moment. To let go is not to criticize and regulate anyone, but to try to become what I dream I can be. 50 Questions That Will Free Your Mind. DAILY INSPIRATION on Spiritual Growth. The Benefits of Mindfulness. Mindfulness is a state of deliberate and conscious awareness directed toward the present moment. The practice is incredibly simple on paper, but with diligent practice can reap many, many benefits.

A great entry level exercise to mindfulness is the 100 Breaths Meditation. It teaches you how to use your breathing as an object of focus, by deliberately directing your awareness toward the motions of your breath. The goal is to remain fixated on your breath, while ignoring distractions and any other outside stimuli. Often the stronger and more focused your awareness becomes, the more you enter into a state of relaxation, bliss, and insight. (If you’re serious about practicing this stuff, I also recommend reading a post I wrote awhile back called Mindfulness of Mindlessness. This one was intended to help people overcome the common problem of getting too distracted during meditation. The Benefits of Mindfulness Research into mindfulness has really picked up over the past few decades.

Your life has purpose and meaning. LOVE and KNOWLEDGE. Love yourself first and when you’re in a really good place, then help others along.
