The Fitzroy House unveils quite the surprise when you step behind the heritage facade to see a modern, three level addition on the back. The landmark property is located in Melbourne, Australia’s Fitzroy area and Techne Architects came on board to restore the original frontage and to complete the rear addition. The blending of the new with the old came with the client’s and their young family’s lifestyle in mind.
The architect incorporated various spaces for the homeowners to socialize, work, and spend time together as a family, along with finding space to integrate art and sentimental finds. The new addition houses the kitchen and living room on the lower level, with an open-air pavilion up above. The ground floor opens up to the courtyard that’s filled in with native landscaping. Windows in the kitchen pop open to create a bar for the people hanging outside in the yard. The pavilion offers a private outdoor space for the family and guests and almost gives the feeling of an indoor room.
<에버노트Evernote 캘리포니아 사무실 디자인> The Little White Apartment by Z-AXIS DESIGN. Just because a space is mostly white, doesn’t mean it has to be boring. Take this small apartment in Taichung, Taiwan, that’s dubbed The Little White Apartment. It may be mostly white, but Z-AXIS DESIGN utilizes visually interesting tricks to keep the space filled with personality. A black storage unit gets a blue cubby hole making the cabinet pop. The lounge chair matches the blue cabinet giving the space balance. They’ve also kept clutter down to an absolute minimum.
The dining table has no legs on the part protruding into the space, keeping it visually light. The wall shelves look as if they are defying gravity by remaining level, just like the dining table. The hallway is kept bright thanks to the office room glass door. The glossy white doors of the closet bounce light around the master bedroom. While white continues into the bedroom, they also brought in a soothing gray and a bold orange to keep the space fresh.
