Mediterranean level In 2001 the 21 Mediterranean rim countries and the European Community decided to prepare a Mediterranean Strategy for Sustainable Development, and agreed that it should be developed by the Mediterranean Commission for Sustainable Development, which was convened under the Mediterranean Action Plan.
