Eggs, yogurt and honey are, at first glance, all components of a tasty breakfast—but they also happen to be hair treatment ingredients, and affordable, all-natural ones at that. And they're not the only ones. Did you know, for instance, that the oils in avocados more closely resemble our own skin's oils than any product in the beauty aisle does? See Creatures & The Perfect Mermaid Curls. Although “perfect” is a relative term, this method for curling hair is pretty much perfect by my standards, mostly because it isn’t fussy. While I’m a sucker for both ringlets and Californian waves, I like my own curls somewhere in between: relaxed but bouncy. Mermaid-like. Supplies: 1″ curling iron, brush, and hair sprayTime: 45 minutes (for thick hair) All of the magic happens with Revlon’s “Helen of Troy” ceramic 1″ curling iron. For those who have long, thick hair like me, you might find that larger curling barrels produce the most pathetic excuse for “waves” that fall out within the hour, regardless of the amount of hair spray. I’ve found that the 1″ barrel creates tight waves that look good for at least 5-6 hours (though they do relax over time). Although I’m sure any iron will do, I love Revlon’s ceramic one – it keeps your hair soft, and it heats up in 30 seconds!
For hairspray, I’m a fan of Tigi’s Hard Head, which has a strong hold without the severe crunchiness. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 100 Amazing Hairstyles | ~She Exists~ | to Add Colors in Life. These little rope braids are a fun way to add a little style with your own hair, creating a sort-of headband of sorts.
Your hair doesn’t need to be extremely long, but you do need some length to cover the top of your head with. If you have layers, you could instead create a tiny French Braid where the hair is shorter and closer to your head, if that makes sense. I'm one of those people who was cursed with stick straight thin hair that hates to curl. I used to do the traditional "braid your hair before bed" and rag curling tricks to get nice beachy waves, but they never ended up turning out right the next day. I didn't like the fact that the process took a whole night, and I had no way of knowing what my hair was going to look like when I pulled the braids/rags out. Do you know how nerve-wracking that is, especially if you have an event to go to (*cough* my brother's wedding)? Would the curls be too tight? Would they end up in funny places? I developed my own way of doing nice randomly chunky waves. Here's how to get some nice messy random waves, without sleeping on a head of uncomfortableness.
I absolutely LOVE the randomness of these curls. Have you seen this method done before? "How do you put your hair in the flat iron without burning your fingers? " Feel free to Pin!!
