So I evened the score. I made a boatload. and the kids WERE THRILLED. save yourself $3.50, and dig through the cupboards. You can do this. The Ingredients. serves 4, (can easily be multiplied --use a larger cooker though!) 4 cups apple cider 3 tablespoons caramel syrup (the ice cream topping) 1/2 tablespoon ground cinnamon 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves 4 tablespoons sweetened whipped cream (optional; I leave it off for my kids) The Directions. Use a 2-quart slow cooker. Mix it all in together---stir, and cook on low for about 4 hours.

Leftovers refrigerate and reheat well (in the microwave). The Verdict. The only drawback to this recipe is that when we have caramel sauce in the house, it tends to get everywhere. One of my favorite things about this time of year is all of the yummy drinks there are to warm us up! Slow Cooker Snow White Cocoa is one of my favorites. (My daughter named it!) It’s fun for a chilly day and makes enough to serve at family gatherings. Get creative and let the kids pick out their own toppings (ex: peppermint bark, chocolate sprinkles, marshmallows, whip cream, etc.) Place all ingredients in the slow cooker.Crock on LOW for 2-3 hours.Mix well to blend – the chocolate should be melted.Use a ladle to pour into mugs.Top with your choice of treats such as peppermint bark, chocolate sprinkles, marshmallows, whip cream, etc.

A switch had gone bad on our water tank, & we had NO running water in the house for nearly 2 days. We were filling up containers of water from the neighbor’s outdoor spigot, & using that for all of our water needs. I had NO idea that it takes nearly 3 gallons of water to simply flush a toilet! If anything, my 2 day experience with no running water made me appreciate it so much more. I was cooking during the ordeal, then it came time to do the dishes – but kinda hard to do without water!

I am starting off the Holiday goody season with my recipe for Hot Cocoa in the Crockpot. Decadent doesn’t even begin to describe this. Stir the cream, sweetened condensed milk, chocolate chips, milk, & vanilla together in your crockpot. Cover, & cook on low for 2 hours – coming back to whisk it every so often. How easy is that?!?
