Manchester City don't need Carlos Tevez says Roberto Mancini. By Ian Ladyman Updated: 21:30 GMT, 14 October 2011 Roberto Mancini has assured Manchester City supporters that their team are good enough to succeed without Carlos Tevez. As a result of the ongoing dispute over Tevez allegedly refusing to play against Bayern Munich two-and-a-half weeks ago, the striker will be alone at the club’s training ground on Saturday while Mancini’s side play Aston Villa at the Etihad Stadium.
The Italian was told by club officials not to speak about Tevez on Friday for fear that his comments may prejudice a disciplinary hearing due to take place on Tuesday or Wednesday. Lonesome: Carlos Tevez did not join the Manchester City squad for training But asked if City fans should worry, Mancini said: ‘The fans should be relaxed. City will save Sergio Aguero, who has a slight groin injury, for Tuesday’s Champions League clash with Villarreal.
Manchester City to escape with a fine after announcing record £195m losses. By Ian Ladyman Updated: 23:06 GMT, 18 November 2011 Manchester City will escape with a fine if, as expected, they become one of the first clubs in Europe to break UEFA's Financial Fair Play guidelines. City have released their most shocking set of annual accounts yet as another year of mammoth transfer spending led to the Barclays Premier League leaders running up record losses of £194.9million for the 2010-11 financial year. Expensive purchases: Manchester City's Edin Dzeko, Yaya Toure and David Silva That is an increase of £74m on last year and £54m more than the previous record, the £141m loss recorded by Chelsea in 2005. City's wage bill is also up 31 per cent to £174m, £22m more than the club's turnover.
It is more than Chelsea's £172m and way beyond Manchester United's £152m and Arsenal's £124m. Even so, it is understood City will almost certainly fail to match the strict income/ expenditure guidelines by the time the rules kick in. Man City squad sale: Mancini forced to cut 20 players. Top 10 Dutch players in England: RVP, Kuyt, van der Sar, Muhren, Gullit and more. Top 10 British Managers of all time. Aaron Gales examines the impact of the best British managers in the history of our proud game. This was a tricky article to write. When I sat down and wrote my previous top ten I already had a very good idea of how I wanted the list to take shape.
I had a list of strong candidates for this list and when I look at the quality of managers that I have had to omit I am almost ashamed to do so. However I am very happy with the quality of the top ten that I have compiled. I hope you all enjoy reading it. 10. Kenny Dalglish. After one of the greatest playing careers of all time Kenny Dalglish took over as player manager of Liverpool in 1985 following the resignation of Joe Fagan.
Dalglish was a tower of strength for his club during this time attending many of the funerals of the fans who had died, including four in one day, and was hailed for his dignity in the aftermath of the tragedy. The followed this finishing runners up the following season. It didn't work out at Newcastle though. 9. 8. Manchester United ready to promote Paul Scholes as reserve team manager as Warren Joyce heads to Hull. Paul Scholes is ready to move up the Manchester United managerial pecking order – as his ‘boss’ Warren Joyce heads back to Hull City. Reserve team manager Joyce, 46, will be allowed to return to Humberside, where he was Tigers gaffer from 1998-2000.
And assistant Scholes is set to step into his shoes at United. Hull could snap up Joyce without paying compensation, with Sir Alex Ferguson using the move to promote Scholes. Joyce takes charge of United reserves while Scholes listens and learns from the vociferous coach. Now the Old Trafford legend could assume control to see if he can cut it at that level.Ole Gunnar Solskjaer previously did the job before moving to Norway. Hull have considered MK Dons boss Karl Robinson, but are swaying towards Joyce – with Nick Barmby, 37, likely to be in his backroom team at the KC Stadium.
Barmby is nearing the end of his playing days but would get the chance to maintain his bond with his hometown club. Manchester United facing huge disruption as first-team players line up to compete in 2012 Olympics. With Jonny Evans, Chris Smalling, Phil Jones, Tom Cleverley, Danny Welbeck and Rooney all potentially available to GB coach Stuart Pearce, as well as the over-aged pair of Darren Fletcher and Ryan Giggs, United are facing huge disruption to their pre-season programme. United manager Ferguson has warned, however, of the dangers of players being overworked should they be involved in the Olympics.
“The intensity of the English game is second to none.” Ferguson said. “It is an exhausting, exacting season. That is why I keep saying that I never expect England to do well in the European Championship or the World Cup, because the players have gone through a hell of a season. “It is very difficult to get the bar up again and it is exactly the same with the Olympics. Ferguson claims that the decision to field a strong GB team is a result of other major nations taking the football tournament seriously at the last Olympics in Beijing in 2008. United's Olympic XI. An OBE, CBE, Knighthood and for the first time in Manchester United history, a stand named after him; there is no doubt that Sir Alex Ferguson is an icon. Many rate him as the greatest manager of all time, he is unquestionably the most successful. His managing career began in 1974 when he took over at East Stirlingshire, a small club who originated in Falkirk, currently playing in the third tier of Scottish football.
In 1978 Sir Alex took over at Aberdeen. In 1986 Ron Atkinson was sacked as manager of Manchester United and on November 6th 1986 Alex Ferguson took charge at Old Trafford. The first league title came the following season and also a debut for a 17 year old schoolboy who would later become Uniteds most appeared player. Sir Alex Ferguson’s 10 Best Signings.
The Govan knight’s best 10 transfers into Manchester United from his 25 year tenure at the helm of England's biggest football club I recently read, and no doubt many more of you have as well, the two articles compiled by Gooner Verse on the 10 best and 10 worst signings that Arsene Wenger has brought into Arsenal football club in his 15-year tenure. This got me thinking about my own club, Manchester United, and Sir Alex Ferguson’s ability within the transfer market over the past 25 years at the helm of the Old Trafford giants.
Here follows a list of the 10 best forays into the transfer market that Ferguson has made, in my humble opinion. I have ranked it on a balance of obviously how good the player was, the transfer fee paid and, if applicable, any transfer fee’s that were received. 10. Marseille v Arsenal Live Streaming Sir Alex Ferguson is reportedly preparing a move to tempt Tottenham schemer Luka Modric as he looks to add more creativity to the centre of his Man United midfield.
The Scot is known to be an admirer of the Croatian international and will look to trump Chelsea with an offer for the want-away White Hart Lane star. Ferguson was strongly linked with moves to bring in a midfield playmaker over the summer and Modric was one of a number of big names the Man Untied boss had been targeting but in the end no move was made and youngster Tom Cleverley’s bright start to the campaign appeared to suggest that no new additions was needed but the 22 year old has since been out injured and the Premier League champions have been out of sorts ever since. Similarly if Tottenham struggle to fight their way back into the top four then keeping the player may prove tougher still. The real effect of Rooney's reposition on Manchester Utd. Wayne Rooney has been moved in to a midfield role to make Man Utd more resilient, but has his move hindered the team more than it has helped?
Following Man Utd’s 6-1 thumping at the hands of their ‘noisy neighbours,’ Wayne Rooney has been repositioned to a deeper midfield role and United are yet to concede a goal. Good news? Well, Man Utd have only scored twice and are still allowing plenty of shots at their goal. So is Rooney’s reposition actually a knee jerk reaction that is hindering both his play and that of his team? Rooney and the Red Devils are rampant to begin the season Prior to the match against Man City, the Red Devils and Wayne Rooney were playing some scintillating attacking football. After his worst season in a Man Utd shirt, Rooney had declared he would get up to the ‘Messi standard’ and began the campaign just like the Argentinean ace. Then came the game against Man City, followed by Rooney’s reposition. Wayne Rooney before and after his midfield move. I'm to blame for Wayne Rooney's scoring woes, admits Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson. By Chris Wheeler Updated: 23:00 GMT, 2 December 2011 Out of form: Rooney has not scored for two and a half months Sir Alex Ferguson admits that his decision to use Wayne Rooney in midfield at times this season is partly to blame for the England striker's barren run.
Rooney is Manchester United's top scorer with 11 goals in all competitions but has not hit the target in the Premier League for two-and-a-half months stretching back to the 3-1 win over Chelsea in September. That has coincided with United also struggling for goals in the league. After hitting 21 in the first five games of the season, the champions have scored just one goal in each of their last six matches. Ferguson agreed on Friday that using Rooney in midfield to compensate for injuries and the loss of Paul Scholes, who retired in the summer, has interrupted the striker's flow of goals. 'Maybe that has got something to do with it, yes,' said Ferguson. 'He had a great start scoring-wise.
Nemanja Vidic has ruptured a cruciate ligament, says agent | Football. Nemanja Vidic's agent has said that the Manchester United captain has suffered a ruptured cruciate ligament in a potentially devastating blow to the club's chances of recovering from their Champions League elimination and catching Manchester City at the top of the Premier League. United have not commented about Silvano Martina's comments on an Italian website other than to say the club's manager, Sir Alex Ferguson, will reveal Vidic's condition at his weekly press briefing on Friday. Ferguson had initially said after the 2-1 defeat in Basel that demoted United into the Europa League that it looked like a medial-ligament injury, meaning a potential four-month lay-off, adding: "We hope that's the worst of it.
" A cruciate ligament injury would be far more serious, with the usual recovery period of around nine months meaning the 30-year-old Vidic would play no further part this season. Darren Fletcher fighting to save career over bowel illness. By Ian Ladyman Updated: 08:38 GMT, 14 December 2011 Manchester United midfielder Darren Fletcher is facing a fight to save his career at the age of 27. United announced that the Scotland captain had been forced to take an indefinite break from playing after succumbing to a debilitating bowel condition. Fletcher missed a large chunk of last season with a so-called 'virus' and then sat out much of pre-season when the problem resurfaced. Out of action: Darren Fletcher will take a prolonged break from football However, the Barclays Premier League champions have revealed that Fletcher has actually been suffering from a problem known as 'ulcerative colitis'.
It is considered unlikely that Fletcher will be back before next season, and there is now a large question mark over his career. Whether the midfielder can return will depend on the severity of the condition. What is ulcerative colitis? According to the NHS, it is a chronic condition that affects the colon. Luis Suarez aimed racist abuse at me, claims Patrice Evra. By Joe Bernstein Updated: 06:56 GMT, 16 October 2011 Manchester United star Patrice Evra has accused Liverpool striker Luis Suarez of racially abusing him during the 1-1 draw at Anfield. Evra claimed Suarez had used the same racial insult ‘more than 10 times’ and the Liverpool player faces a Football Association investigation after referee Andre Marriner included Evra’s allegations about Suarez’s language in his match report.
Sources in France said the word Suarez is alleged to have used is ‘n*****’. Fury: Patrice Evra (right) pushes Luis Suarez away at Anfield Marriner was seen talking to the players after a clash at a second-half corner and Evra was later booked for dissent. Liverpool said Suarez categorically denied the claims, but France full-back Evra, who was born in the Senegal capital of Dakar, told French TV channel Canal Plus: ‘I was very upset.
‘I won’t repeat what he said, but it was a racist word, and he said it more than ten times. Suarez is no stranger to controversy. How Patrice Evra has never played the race card and why assumptions are dangerous. Football can do a lot of things. It can turn completely stable people into emotional wrecks, it can play with our emotions like nothing else, save perhaps a member of the opposite sex. In short, it’s a very powerful thing. One thing it should not do, however, is to change our perspective. Not footballing perspective, of course you should feel free to argue that your team is better than my team, your fans are louder than my fans, your grass is greener than our grass.
But our general perspective, such as the ability to analyse a serious claim, should be unmoved by which football team we hope scores more goals than the other. On Saturday, Patrice Evra of Manchester United accused Luis Suarez of Liverpool of making racist remarks towards him. Unfortunately, though the ‘of”s in the previous sentence should not be of importance, they have been made so. Immediately after the allegations were made, a lot of people reacted based on which team they supported. ————- The FA’s Evra Report. FA gags Fergie on Evra case.
