Farming Datacores For ISK In EVE Online. R&D agents are a special kind of NPC agent that will perform research for players that meet their requirements.

Farming Datacores For ISK In EVE Online

This research is represented by the steady accumulation of research points, which you can intermittently cash in for various kinds of Datacores. Datacores are special items that are used for inventing tech two modules, and enjoy a brisk trade at market hubs, like Jita. The neat thing about these agents is that, once spoken to, they will continue to produce research points on their own, without any interaction from the player. That means that they are what we call a "passive income source. " Passive income sources are ideal because they mean that you can spend less time grinding for ISK, and more time doing whatever it is you enjoy. Because of the way missions work, if you're going for level four missions in general, you may as well also get R&D agents going at the same time.

Datacore Farming. Notice regarding future of datacore farming In an interview with Ten Ton Hammer posted 25 March 2012, CCP Soundwave indicated that he would like to phase out datacore farming, so the future viability of this passive source of income is uncertain.

Datacore Farming

In a devblog [1] dated 9 May 2012 CCP Ytterbium stated "... our current intention is to turn datacore gathering into more of an active profession than it currently is... " Due to the addition of datacores to Faction Warfare and the increased 10,000 ISK cost per datacore, datacore farming is no longer a profitable source of passive income. Research & Development (R&D) agents in EVE are “aides” through which research into Tech 2 Blueprints is conducted.

Research Agents

There are a few key differences between “normal” (mission-) agents and research agents: Standings Requirement: Research agents have both the normal standings requirement for an agent of their Level and Quality, as well as the requirement for Corporate or Personal standings at 2.0 less than the normal standings requirement. In practice, however, this additional restriction rarely comes into play, since attaining the required Corporate standing automatically fulfills the lower requirement, and Personal standing can not be modified (except with skills).

The secondary limitation, therefore, exists only to prevent those with high Faction standing from accessing top-level researchers without actually working for that corporation. Profitability of R&D Agents. * 2009-09-05 Connections skill bonus was removed from all agents who have no personal standings towards the character (all of RnD agents).

Profitability of R&D Agents

It is in the patch notes, somewhere. Use this options to calc with old mode (not recommended). ** 2012-10-29 There was some changes that descibed in : Profitability of all the R&D Agents was decreased twice The 10 000 ISK fee was introduced for each datacore The columns "ISK/day" and "ISK/month" take account of these changes, so the total profit, that is displaying in these columns is decreased by 10 000 ISK per datacore The profitability of the R&D agents is evaluated among all the agents accessible by your character (based on the skills specified above). Thus, if the 1st agent in the table is ranked 3, it means that there are 2 more profitable agents among the corporations which have not been selected. If you have any questions, concerns or some ideas, we will be happy to hear from you on our forum.
