Last May, Taylor Jones was sitting with his family in Ontario when his mother pulled out an old photo album. Among the hundreds of shots was one of Jones's younger brother at his third birthday party. "He was sitting in front of his Winnie-the-Pooh birthday cake," Jones recalls. "It was weird – because my brother was there, in the exact spot he was sitting in in the photograph. " Jones grabbed his camera and took a shot of the old photograph lined up to match its original location. He posted it and six others on a blog. Within days, the blog, which he later named Dear Photograph, had gone viral. The success has enabled Jones to leave his job in Ontario with RIM, makers of BlackBerrys, where he worked as a social media specialist.

I recently contacted them to find out how they capture their images as I wanted to present my panoramas (not full 360) in the same manner. This post will explore how they capture what they do and will point you to some resources you can use to do the same. NOTE: I suggest subscribing to their blog as they post one of these images from around the world every week. Bio: Muse - Fun Flexible Lens for Canon, Nikon and other SLR Cameras.

There's nothing that can make you feel more like a bumbling tourist than waddling down a hot, crowded, cobblestone street with heavy, overstuffed bags hanging from aching shoulders while frantically searching for the hotel you were sure was on this corner.

My goal when packing for any trip is to never have more luggage than I would feel comfortable carrying for an entire day. To stay nimble, I travel with a 9" x 14" x 19" rolling bag, (sized for international carry-on) and a medium-sized laptop bag. The photos below show almost everything (sorry, no skivvies!) We're at the halfway point of the summer and it's almost time for me to shake off the dust of this town and fly off to parts unknown. I love traveling.
