Walter vogel. Guðmundur Ingólfsson. In retrospect, I can say that all my interactions with the island country of Iceland have in some way or another been facilitated by Gudmundur Ingolfsson. Knowing him first through his photographic exchange with my father, Wayne Gudmundson, allowed me to witness his penchant for jokes and storytelling, be amazed at his encyclopedic mind, and get to know Iceland in a more profound way, but looking into his photographic career, which spans some 40 years, offered a new perspective on his artistically rich life.
Beginning as a student of Otto Steinert at the Folkwang College of Arts, Guðmundur went on to work commercially through his studio IMYND (image in Icelandic) and has specialized in culinary, architectural, and artistic performance photography, besides his personal work. Below we speak of the mix between commercial and personal, his photographic beginnings, and a look at photography in Iceland, all while visually showcasing Guðmundur’s personal work. Rudi Meisel was born in Wilhelmshaven in 1949, has attended high school in Osnabrück and studied photography with Otto Steinert and Erich vom Endt at Folkwang School in Essen.
Since 1971, nearly all the relevant weekly newspapers and magazines in Germany and the Western countries published his photographs. He is a founding member of the photo agency VISUM. In addition to photojournalism, he has worked occasionally for advertising and is now a lecturer also, working at the Ostkreuzschule für Fotografie und Gestaltung and the VISUM-photography school in Berlin. Das Langzeit-Fotoprojekt Rudi Meisel Berlin Die Entwicklung eines eigenen Fotoprojekts von der Wahl des Themas bis zur Endauswahl moeglicherweise in einem spaeteren Seminar ist das Ziel dieses Workshops mit Rudi Meisel. Jeweils 4 Termine in Berlin im Frühjahr und Sommer 2013. Im Bild: Norman Foster arbeitet in seinem Londoner Büro an dem Modell der Reichstagskuppel.
Rudi Meisel hat in einem für die Dauer mehrerer Jahre angelegten Fotoprojekt den britischen Architekten Sir Norman Foster während der gesamten Umbauphase des Berliner Reichstagsgebäudes zum Deutschen Bundestags portraitiert. Die Teilnehmer sollten selbst, im Gespraech mit den anderen und Rudi Meisel ihr Thema finden und dieses über einen längeren Zeitraum fotografieren. Notwendige Vorkenntnisse: Arbeitserfahrung mit analoger oder digitaler Fototechnik in Kleinbild oder Mittelformat - und Ausdauer, deshalb vielleicht weniger für Einsteiger geeignet.
