One Dog Woof: Lucky Star Ombre Mobile

I love that J now points to it at bedtime and says “Moon!” And “-Tar!” I’m going to lose, or I’m going win. Someday, I will get back to the business of blogging randomness, but for now, I’m just chugging along, another week, another craft :-). I had seen photos of ombre mobiles on Pinterest that were made from paint chips, so I knew I liked the effect of the ombre in mobile form. Lucky stars are usually made with long strips of origami paper, but I didn’t have the time nor the confidence that I was going to find exactly what I wanted, so I tried to make my own. Then cut your now-ombred paper into strips. Once you have the strips, start folding stars.

Arrange the stars in columns the way you would want them to hang in your mobile. Cut a long length of thread, tie a knot at the bottom and thread the darkest star in the column. Cut out two white crescents. The assembly in my case was a bit haphazard. How to make a paper bow. I've gotten some questions asking how I made the paper bow on the bottom package in this post.

Inspired by Yulia Brodskaya. I can't get over how amazing these are.

Inspired by Yulia Brodskaya

I wouldn't be surprised if Yulia invented quilling. She is a 28 year old artist from Moscow who creates beautiful designs from vertical pieces of thin paper and her website is full of inspiration in color, line, shadow and technique. You don't have to be a fellow quiller to wish you were like this great lady. Even though her pieces would be amazing if they were drawn, it was the fact that they are 3d that caught my attention. Pappersuggla – Craft of the Day, paper owl. Adventsstjärnor i ny skrud – Advent star makeover. Förra fredagen fick vi fint besök av Karin och hennes dotter Freja från Pysselbolaget.

Adventsstjärnor i ny skrud – Advent star makeover

A comment for you non-Swedish readers: In Sweden it’s very common to hang these Advent stars in the windows on the first Advent before Christmas. Giant Paper Rose Flower. If you loved the beautiful DIY wedding this morning and Nata’s gorgeous paper flower bouquets, you are in luck as Nata is sharing how she crafted them with us!

Giant Paper Rose Flower

She was inspired by a template created by Morgan Levine on Martha Stewart (as was I in the flowers I created for this styled shoot). I just love that this basic idea has inspired different brides to create their own version of giant paper flowers – you might remember these equally awesome giant paper flowers from this wedding I shared last year. :) Thanks so much Nata for sharing how you created your giant pink paper rose + special thanks to Studio Castillero for the photos of the DIY + her wedding!

Materials (to make one giant rose) Step 1: Cut the petals Cut 5-6 teardrop petals and 15-6 heart-shaped petals from the petal colored crepe paper.
