Well since that post a couple of months back, I have been a bread baking fool and no longer doubt myself in the yeast department. In fact, I probably have more bread baking supplies and tools than some bakeries and with that came a serious addiction to the King Arthur Flour website. Other than nixing the shortening in favor of butter and sneaking in some whole wheat flour, I’ve pretty much relied fully on my mom’s cinnamon roll recipe just the way she made them (often!) ½ cup very warm water1 tablespoon sugar2 tablespoons yeast½ cup melted butter2 eggs2 teaspoons salt½ cup sugar1½ cups warm milk5½ cups flour (I usually sneak in about 2 cups whole wheat and then finish it off with unbleached)butterbrown sugarsugarcinnamon Icing buttervanillamilkpowdered sugarCombine water, 1 tablespoon sugar and yeast. Recipe updated 10/19/13 Apple Cinnamon Rolls Recipe Ingredients 4 1/2 cups of all-purpose flour 2 cups milk 1/2 cup vegetable oil 1/2 cup sugar 1/2 teaspoon of salt 1/2 teaspoon aluminum-free baking powder 1/2 teaspoon baking soda 1 packet of active yeast Filling 2 medium apples, chopped into small cubes (about 1 1/2 cups chopped) 1 cup brown sugar, packed 1/4 cup ground cinnamon 1 cup of butter, melted (2 sticks) Frosting 1/2 cup butter, melted (1 stick) 1 1/3 cup of powdered sugar 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/2 teaspoon pure maple extract (or pure vanilla extract) 1/4 cup milk To prepare the dough, heat milk, oil and cane sugar for 5-8 minutes (do not boil).

For the filling, heat up 1 cup of butter and brown it. Serve warm.
