Under pressure, single-sex programs have been dropped at schools from Missouri to Louisiana. "It doesn't frustrate me," Gilbert said of the criticism, "but it makes the work harder. UC system weighs shift in tuition payments to after graduation. With public university administrators continually arguing for tuition increases to counter state appropriations cuts, it seems far-fetched that their budget problems could be solved by eliminating student tuition and fees altogether. But that’s the idea put forth by a group of students from the University of California at Riverside, who in January proposed a new funding model for the University of California system that seeks to solve two of the system’s biggest problems: unpredictable and large decreases in state appropriations, and the steady increase in tuition costs.
Under the students’ plan, called the UC Student Investment Proposal, students in the system would pay no upfront costs for their education but would agree to pay 5 percent of their income to the system for 20 years after graduating and entering the workforce. Student Proposal In Brief: UC students would pay no tuition up front to attend a UC campus. The plan also breaks with the traditional type of income-based program. Student tattoo forces school board to review policy. WOODRUFF, SC (FOX Carolina) - An Upstate mother said her son's tattoo has gotten him in trouble at high school, prompting her to raise concerns that the school district's policy might not be fair.
Belinda Harbin told FOX Carolina she allowed her son to get a Bible scripture tattoo on his arm this summer. "It has been a lot of trouble and aggravation," she said. Harbin said the tattoo has caused trouble and aggravation because he's been written up three times at Woodruff High School, where he attends. She said when he wears sleeves you can barely see the tattoo, but sometimes he forgets to cover it up. She said recently she got angry when she heard a teacher got to wear her tattoos freely. "It came to my attention that one of his teachers got three tattoos showing visible in the class every day," Harbin said.
Harbin said she called Spartanburg School District Four, where Woodruff High School is located, and found out there's a different policy for students and teachers. Memos.
