The Demographic Landscape of Social Networks

http://socialmediatoday.com/amzini/301914/demographic-landscape-social-networks I’d like to share a brief demographic analysis of social networks that helps explain who uses social networks, and for what purpose. Before diving in, I think its best to discuss where our data comes from. Amzini is a directory of over 900 social websites that are visited over 7 billion times per month, by over 900 million visitors ( Compete.com ). We collect demographic information on each website from Alexa.com , who uses their toolbar to provide estimations of the audience's composition for each site.

Canadian Council Of Public Relations Firms » The Demographic Landscape of Social Networks

The world belongs to those who understand it. In the social media ecosphere, we at Strategic Objectives believe those who understand their audiences best have the highest likelihood of generating the best results. PRs need to understand how to tell a brand’s story and make it speak to audiences so effectively that the message can transcend all platforms and inspire sharing. PRs are natural communicators, but even here, you really need to understand your audience to maximize results.

Why Renren is NOT “The Facebook of China”

Renren is preparing for an IPO today at a $4+ billion dollar valuation. We can also prepare for a billion articles selling Renren as “The Facebook of China.” Here’s why that’s NOT true. 1) Facebook is dominant, Renren is NOT Facebook is stunningly dominant, a single network that spans demographics, generations, and geographies .

Modeling The True Value Of Social Networks: 2009 Edition

http://techcrunch.com/2009/06/04/the-true-value-of-social-networks-the-2009-updated-model/ A year ago we modeled out the true value of various social networks based on the idea that users in high-value online advertising markets like Japan, the UK and the U.S. were worth more (financially speaking) than those in lower value online advertising markets. Facebook had recently become the largest worldwide social network in terms of users, but based on our model MySpace was still by far the most valuable social network. We’ve now remodeled social network valuations based on current user numbers and Facebook’s most recent $10 billion valuation . The results are dramatically different.

2011 Social Network Analysis Report – Geographic – Demographic and Traffic Data Revealed

Although Facebook is by far the largest social network out there, the social network sphere is large and has a ton of players. We were curious about which of them are the most active. To find these sites, we decided to focus on the number of daily visitors to each site. The number of (unique) daily visitors is an interesting metric since it doesn’t rely on registered users (who may or may not be active) or monthly visitors, where some may visit the site as seldom as once per month. In short, you get a good idea of the day-to-day activity on a site. Number of visitors per day
