Two men and two women of approximately 2.10 meters in height were buried about 4,500 years ago in a tomb of clay discovered recently by Russian archaeologists in the North Caucasus.
The tomb is covered by a mound 40 meters in diameter, which includes what appears to be a family vault. The discovery was really surprising, since scientists were working in the area to give a permit for a power line, and believed that all burials had been looted in the past. The researchers found that the bones had been “sprinkled abundantly with ocher” apparently for a cultural ritual that describes the human being born in blood, so leaving the world must be “marked” red. The male bodies had their head in a separate place, suggesting that they would have been beheaded. Scientists are remaining stubbornly silent about a lost race of giants found in burial mounds near Lake Delavan, Wisconsin, in May 1912.
The dig site at Lake Delavan was overseen by Beloit College and it included more than 200 effigy mounds that proved to be classic examples of 8th century Woodland Culture. But the enormous size of the skeletons and elongated skulls found in May 1912 did not fit very neatly into anyone’s concept of a textbook standard. They were enormous. These were not average human beings.
