Black Churches: Changing Neigborhoods. Who Invented Dominionism? That is the Question Dominion has to do with control. Dominion has to do with rulership. Dominion has to do with authority and subduing and it relates to society. In other words, what the values are in Heaven need to be made manifest here on earth. Dominion means being the head and not the tail. There is a fascinating ongoing Internet discussion going on right now from all sides of the Dominionism issue. Christian Right observer Rachel Tabachnick, in an article citing evidence of the Dominionism of the NAR, reviews some of the Internet hoopla: "Right Wing Watch has a post today about the Religious Right's collective amnesia about Dominionism. Sarah Posner, another Christian Right observer, interviewed Anthea Butler, who came up with some insightful comments about the struggles the media is having with understanding this movement: Chip Berlet, a longtime observer of the political Right from the vantage point of the political Left,[4] defended Sara Diamond's reputation.

C. Exponential Network. Iran Upholds Christian Pastor’s Apostasy Conviction: Execution as Early as Wednesday. Just days after Iran released two Americans accused of spying in Iran, an Iranian court has upheld the apostasy conviction and execution sentence of Christian Pastor Youcef Nadarkhani. The 11th branch of Iran’s Gilan Provincial Court has determined that Pastor Nadarkhani has Islamic ancestry and therefore must recant his faith in Jesus Christ. Iran’s supreme court had previously ruled that the trial court must determine if Pastor Youcef had been a Muslim before converting to Christianity. However, the judges, acting as terrorists, who have a hostage, demanded that he recant his faith in Christ before even taking evidence.

The judges stated that even though the judgment they have made is against the current Iranian and international laws they have to uphold the previous decision of the 27th Branch of the Supreme Court in Qom. When asked to “repent” by the Judges, Youcef stated, “Repent means to return. Please share Pastor Youcef’s situation with anyone you know, and pray for his release. Mark Morford: How to Make a Creationist Weep. Do you want to know the real reason Barack Obama is going to win the 2012 election? The big, grinning hunk of overwhelming evidence that has little to do with the not-very-terrific job he's doing and not nearly enough to do with the fact that the man has actually accomplished quite a lot, despite being savaged and hobbled and compromised at nearly every turn? The reason, as most comparable explanations are, is sort of awesome in its pureform power. The most interesting part is that it has almost nothing to do with Obama at all and everything to do with the fact that his opponents are, largely and comfortably, insane.

What, too harsh? Too mean? Not even close, honeybomb. Let me back up for a second. It's a fascinating little finding, really, one of thousands like it happening all the time in the science world; it tells of life long past, how protofeathers later evolved into actual feathers, how flight first came to be. Then it strikes me. Is it not true? See Rick Perry over there? | Samuel Rodriguez, the New Apostolic Reformation, and Apostolic Government of the Church. First, who and what is the NAR? The New Apostolic Reformation is the name given by C. Peter Wagner to a rapidly growing movement with a distinct ideology. Two major distinguishing features of the movement are briefly summarized below, followed by additional documentation of Rodriguez's investment in the movement.

The New Apostolic Reformation 1) A shift to belief in a God-given mandate to take control over the social and governmental institutions in the earthly realm. These are used to popularize the belief that followers must take "dominion" over society and government. The movement is successfully embracing minority groups through a reconciliation strategy which has been described in detail in New Apostolic books and training materials. 2) A "restoration of apostolic government of the church. " Apostolic government in Protestantism is not a new idea. The NAR is not limited to the International Coalition of Apostles ICA or even all of the entities initiated by C.

Denials. | Meet The Kendrick Brothers: God's Faithful Filmmakers. Meeting the Kendrick Brothers The opening of Courageous, which was shown in half the theaters as the cancer dramedy 50/50, and brought in $8.8 million, and "ranks fifth all-time for a Christian movie, and only trails [Mel Gibson's] The Passion of the Christ and the three Narnia movies," according to Box Office Mojo. Prior to its Friday, September 30, premiere, the Associated Press reported that producer and co-writer Stephen Kendrick "says God has done more with the films [that he's produced] than they could ask or imagine. " Stephen Kendrick, whose brother Alex co-wrote, directed and plays a lead role in the film, told AP that "we've come to him and said, 'God, what is your storyline?

Would you help us? Would you guide the production? Would you help us in the editing? Would you connect the movie to the audience? '" Kendrick told AP that "We're going after the issue of fatherhood. "With volunteers no one is watching the clock and we're all in it together," Alex Kendrick told Time magazine. | Florida lieutenant governor: Christians are under attack. We got the same accusations after lodging strong complaints about a church harassing and proselytizing right at our church's table (UU church) at a public event. We were "persecuting Christians! ". The next time we were at the event, they tried to block access to our table for at least 15 minutes (far longer to me, and possibly in retaliation).

They were asking the usual "find a way to attack" questions of the others in our group and thought they had us fooled into thinking they were just individuals with questions (one in our group followed them back to the other church and confirmed that they were part of the church and working together). The organizers of the event have had other complaints about that church group and about others, for their aggressive proselytizing and harassment of people. Whenever a fundamentalist/dominionist "Good Christians" group gets involved in anything that involves the public, they create problems.

| Catching Up with the Talented Rev. Rodriguez. First, following Rodriguez's resignation as a leader of rabidly Islamophobic Oak Initiative, (which is dominated by NAR leaders), the liberal Washington, DC think tank Faith in Public Life, urged Rodriguez, (with whom the group has worked closely, and who has served on it's advisory board) to issue "a public denunciation of their extremism. " We appreciate Rodriguez's admirable decision to distance himself from a group promoting fringe theories about Muslims, and hope this can be an opportunity for him and other people of faith to stand firmly against bigotry and the spread of harmful misinformation. Second, researchers who have been writing about the New Apostolic Reformation have long treated Rodriguez's involvement in NAR as well-established, common knowledge, and uncontroversial.

But that said, we arrive at the third aspect of the scandal. Metzger's charge of McCarthyism was as grave as it was unsubstantiated and needs to be addressed. | Affordable Power Alliance's Harry Jackson Attacks Evangelical Environmental Network and EPA. My recent post "Rodriguez Signed Evangelical Call to Stop Mercury Poisoning While Working to Oppose Regulation" included information and links on the Evangelical Environmental Network's (EEN) efforts to oppose the TRAIN Act (H.R. 2401), which delays enforcement of air pollution regulation.

Samuel Rodriguez, president of the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference (NHCLC), signed the EEN statement "An Evangelical Call to Stop Mercury Poisoning of the Unborn," but he is also on the board of the APA, which opposes regulation. Likewise, the NHCLC has partnered with the EEN, while simultaneously partnering with CORE. As noted in the previous article, CORE was once a prestigious civil rights organization, but in recent years has used its reputation to attack environmental regulation as "eco-imperialism" and a "war on the poor," while receiving funding from Monsanto and Exxon Mobil and running campaigns in support of genetically modified foods.

Fischer: "Homosexual Agenda" Is America's "Greatest Immediate Threat" | Bryan Fischer: First Amendment only protects Christians. If ever you needed more convincing that the religious right and its bastard child, the New Apostolic Reformation, is full of hot air when it says all it wants is influence, look no further than a statement Bryan Fischer made on Focal Point on Monday. He says, straight up, that the First Amendment doesn't apply to anyone else except Christians.

Watch for yourself. Fischer even goes as far to say that the states still have the right to set up an established church if they so choose, since the First Amendment only says Congress can't make a law setting up one. Never mind that it has been well-established that the 14th Amendment's liberty clause is binding on the states. Fischer claims that it was "a good thing" that no state has an established church anymore. Well, you can't say Fischer didn't warn us of what was in store in the Christian America they'd like to create.

It is provided only for personal research purposes and may not be reprinted. Thankful for the opportunity, an LDS Church official in Kazakhstan presented tenets of his faith to the central Asian nation's president, Nursultan Nazarbayev, a tough former Communist labeled by detractors as corrupt and ruthless.

General authority Paul Pieper, who represents the area for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, spoke in both Kazakh and Russian as he outlined support of traditional family values, education and the authority of local governments — as well as the faith's taboos against alcohol, tobacco and illicit drugs. "You don't drink? '' Nazarbayev interrupted. "There are places in Russia where they live to be over 100 and drink like fish. " Then, apparently sensing Pieper's discomfort, Nazarbayev chuckled and added, "I hope you understand that's a joke.'' U.S. Jim Wallis looks for Jesus at Occupy Wall Street–and finds Him. My Life as a Daughter in the Christian Patriarchy Movement -- How I Was Taught to Obey Men, Birth 8 Kids and Do Battle Against Secular America | Tea Party and the Right. Deep within America, beyond your typical evangelicals and run-of-the-mill fundamentalists, nurtured within the homeschool movement and growing by the day, are the Christian Patriarchy and Quiverfull movements.

This is where I grew up. I learned that women are to be homemakers while men are to be protectors and providers. I was taught that a woman should not have a career, but should rather keep the home and raise the children and submit to her husband, who is her god-given head and authority. I learned that homeschooling is the only godly way to raise children, because to send them to public school is to turn a child over to the government and the secular humanists. I was taught that children must be trained up in the way they should go every minute of every day. I learned that a woman is always under male authority, first her father, then her husband, and perhaps, someday, her son. My parents were originally fairly ordinary evangelicals. | Resource Directory for the New Apostolic Reformation.

Rachel Maddow Show. | Critics of dominionism no longer welcome at American Family Association. America's own Taliban. Prior to 9/11, the Taliban government in Afghanistan did not register very much on American radar screens, with one notable exception: when it blew up two colossal images of the Buddha in Bamiyan province in early 2001. But destruction of treasured artifacts isn't just limited to the Taliban. There's a right-wing politico-religious presence centred in the US, but with a global reach, engaging in similar practises, destroying religious and cultural artifacts as a key aspect of its ideology of "strategic level spiritual warfare" (SLSW).

Until recently a fringe evangelical movement, warned against as deviant, "spiritual warfare" is rapidly positioning itself within America's mainstream political right. It's well past time for political journalists to start covering what this movement is up to. The ultimate goal is to replace secular democracy, both in America and around the world, with a Christian theocracy, an ideology known as "dominionism".

Republican politicians and right wing media outlets have tried to paint the movement as anti-semitic, communist, socialist, fascist, lazy, greedy, etc… But now the right wing is bringing Jesus into the equation, as usual, and in the twisted minds of the conservatives, Jesus would side with the greedy wealthy bankers. According to Bryan Fischer of the American Family Association, Jesus would oppose the peaceful protesters of OWS and would do violence to them. In an October 28, 2011 piece for Rightly Cornered, Fischer writes, “A CNN anchor asked earlier this week whether or not Jesus would occupy Wall Street. That question can be answered with a categorical “No.” First, Jesus has no truck with rank, blatant hypocrites. Secondly, Jesus has no truck with those whose entire agenda is to flagrantly disobey two of the Ten Commandments of God.
