Reinhart - Sept. 9, 2011 12:00 AM The Arizona Republic The state is violating the law by failing to produce public records regarding two children harmed while under the watch of Child Protective Services, according to an attorney for The Arizona Republic and KPNX-TV. In a letter sent Thursday to state Department of Economic Security Director Clarence Carter, attorney David Bodney said the state has failed to promptly provide CPS records on 6-year-old Jacob Gibson, who died Aug. 14 and had been the subject of five CPS reports. The paper requested documents related to the boy and his parents Aug. 15. Jacob's parents have been indicted in connection with his death. Bodney said the CPS has "been anything but prompt" in its response to the request.
