Discover the cosmos! Each day a different image or photograph of our fascinating universe is featured, along with a brief explanation written by a professional astronomer. The Phoenix Astronomical Society (located in the lower North Island of New Zealand) is an extremely active and enthusiastic society whose aim is to make astronomy accessible to everyone whatever their level of interest and knowledge; to increase public awareness of astronomy and related sciences, and to share with others the mysteries and wonders of the universe of which we are all a part. Since our formation in December 1997 our membership has grown rapidly with a diverse membership of men, women and children interested in different aspects of astronomy. TPAS welcomes new members of all ages and levels of interest. Our members range from absolute beginners, students, experienced teachers and adult educators, telescope-makers, experts in electronics, and optical systems, to various areas of research astronomy.
